The yellow eyed guy was so worried MC was leaving him because he wasn't responding to his texts and calls (only once). He probably didn't went home because of that. The yellowed eye's parents must have been worried so they immediately contacted the police.

They have connection so I don't think they are acting particularly weird. And genders mostly do matter in omegaverse. A/B/O are secondary so they often speak like this.

Unfortunately mangas are like that - still full of stereotypes even when authors create fantasy worlds... I prefer fanfiction A/B/O because of that.
