So I guess its a misogony thing? Like he probably wouldn't be like this towards her if she just signed the papers. But of course he can't let his property (and she is until the divorce) sleep with someone else?
It seems that since he ignored her, she ignored him? So he is shocked she want's sex since she never asked him for any??? I kinda think it isn't even that deep but just that he writer wanted a plot where a woman cheats but dosn't know its with her husband.

It is low key out of character. He asks, no, demands any damn thing he wants normally. Tho he has learned to be more diplomatic.
Boy if you don't just fucking propose. 100% ok with asking for anything else but her hand in marriage?? Really bitch. I kinda don't buy that he just hasn't said to her, "You will be my queen. You are the only one qualified to become the wife and co ruler of someone as great as me."
But drama I guess.
I swear sometimes its like I wanna hate a character, but I wonder if I hate the character or how the writer writes them. And in this case it's totes the writing.
Since when has this fucker needed to use underhanded methods to get anything? He used to lop dudes heads off at the slightest whim. And has never been hesitant to be picky about who he keeps close. But his arrogant ass wont even command her to marry him? (cuz we know this dude ain't gonna ask. Lol)

But even if he commands her to marry him, there'd still a lot of "steps" to take care of. Even a political marriage and a marriage of convenience need at least the pretense of consent from someone from the bride's family, and he hasn't even met them not ever had any direct business with them, so... More importantly, she's different than other people in the sense that he actually cares about what she feels, moreover about what she thinks when it comes to her own marriage and love life. He obviously likes her enough to want her to come to accept their marriage of her own free will, rather than because he forced it, and he probably doesn't want to do anything that might induce her to start hating him. He'd definitely know that using his power over her, and her vulnerability as a woman, to interfere in a personal matter like her love life completely out of the blue, in such a direct and obvious way, and without any kind of pretext or explanation, would at least make her very upset.

I expect that when everything else fails, he'll have to resort to that "excuse" ("You are the only one qualified to become the wife and co ruler"). But using that excuse would be the same thing as admitting he actually "needs" a queen, and I bet he delayed his marriage until now because he always thought he'd inevitably end up forced to marrying someone he didn't like, for a political alliance (and that this someone would have to be from a family probably a lot more powerful and/or "a lot more convenient as a political ally" than Rosalyn's own family...). I can definitely bet he delayed it from happening with the excuse that "this kingdom doesn't need a queen, since I'm all that it needs, for now".

But I think it can be said that while they are having communication issues. Shit like this is why Jace doesn't believe the Duke loves him. It's always physical, and worse there has been way too much rape.
Like Duke, outside of Jace saying no to sex(already starting at zero dude), when you put it in he said it hurt(so now you have negative points). Like...why are you still going?? The idea of fucking him so well he would want to leave kinda can't work when pain of that nature is involved.
Yes Jace should flat out say that he is under the impression that when the previous tutor comes back that he will be kicked out. Yes Jace should explain why he didn't introduce the woman to the Duke. But those flash backs at the end of the chapter of Jace's old classmates...The Duke doesn't have Jace's trust and he doesn't deserve his trust. So of course communication will be shity between them. They never even really dealt with the earlier instances of the Duke forcing himself on Jace.
If he has reason to hate the red head. Or if he simply thinks that getting close to the red head at all will cause his friends to be killed(because that's what triggered her friend to attack). Like maybe he feels so guilty for switching fiancées that he just wants to avoid the red head at all costs, and not that she did anything to him to make him not love her anymore.
