Ok, I think Hara’s red string is connected to Kaoru but since Kaoru couldn’t see his own, he thought Hara now belongs to someone else and it’s time for him to leave. Or, Hara’s red string is really connected to someone else but yknow even so, people with their red strings connected to each other don’t necessarily end up together. So Hara, go and catch your boy!

Regardless, I think, yes, some love are meant to be, they are fated and no matter what happens, you will never be able to forget them. But I do think that there are also some love that are based on self will and choice. Someone whom you choose to dedicate and commit yourself to whatever the temptation because you value that person more than anything else in the world. So, whether or not is there a red string is not important. What is important is whether both of them have the determination to keep loving each other despite everything that could break them apart. And that is why I’m fond of this manga. :) Sorry it’s long haha because I’m someone who like to immense myself in story with kinda a good plot.
