Her treating him like a deity dismisses his feelings, puts a wall between them and ultimately hurts him. He doesn’t want her to treat him like that, he wants to be viewed as an equal human being. So, no, the deity treatment here isn’t the good thing you think it is.
If u want a comparison, take celebrities as an example. Their fame also causes them harm, and many of them would prefer to be treated like actual humans. Especially probably when it comes to friendships and romance. Putting someone close to you on a pedestal is not a good thing.
