I know understand why cain did that. Obviously, he really love rino to the point that he's willing to have a deal with a devil(emperor). Edward was also like him, keeping rino in his room and not letting him to go outside but the difference is cain was so desperate. Why? Edward wins interms of affection and love. Meanwhile, cain doesn't have that so maybe(i think) he thought what if edward got punish(you know, die because threaning the emperor) then he will get a chance to rino love him. I feel sad for cain.

Think of this, don't focus on what rino and edward feeling. Because in the end, the two of them will be happy with each other. Think about the feeling of cain. Imagine, someone you love bragging about this guy who she really love. Imagine you protecting you love while she having sex with someone she love. Cain was so DESPERATE to the point that he couldn't think rationally. Try to see his feeling rather than focusing on the main characters. Plus if you think of it, Edward has lot of opportunities rather than cain because he was a commoner rather than a highly noble. He did made a deal with the devil without thinking what would happen, what would rino feels or betraying his bestfriend edward. and it has nothing to do with Edward having opportunities, Cain never had a chance in her heart from the first place. and she actually was with Cain much longer in the start than she was with Edward and she still fall in love with Edward. so no, she never would have fall for Cain no matter how many opportunities they got. she sees him as a good friend and that's it, you can't force someone to love you.
there is nothing wrong with wanting affection, it wrong when you don't know when to let go of someone you need to let go and find someone else! instead, he just forced his way with Rino with his selfish thinking "I protect her" while she does not his protection bs at all!
