I’m on chapter two right now and I have to say, the beginning threw me off because it starts exactly the way a bl would
I had to check three times to check if it was a bl because the relationship buildup between male characters is mmmh. The first guy he saved, then the radio guy(im terrible with names) is giving the first and second male lead energy.

I really like how the story is written to be honest, it’s pretty good psychologically, especially with FL. ML technically had little obligation to help her, but at the same time, he was incredibly selfish and chose to keep her isolated from everyone else. ML’s actions are worsened from the fact that FL saw him as her savior, her only way out, when they met. She saw him as her only chance of improving her life, so her hurt and resentment was magnified many times over to know that he failed to meet her hopes and chose to label her as the same as her oppressors instead.
FL was also so desperate for ML’s help because of her learned helplessness, where she didn’t believe she could escape herself since she’s been trapped for so long. Although she briefly thinks about fleeing to the eastern continent as her maid suggested near the beginning, she didn’t really see it as a practical option at the time because she believed she couldn’t save herself and help from ML was the more accessible option. Now that she’s slightly healed and has made more connections when the ML lost his memory, she’s able to see all of this and save herself instead.
I know some of the comments are saying it’d be more rational if she did this instead, or this other way would’ve been the better option, but the point is that she isn’t completely rational. She’s just guessing and trying to make improve her life after a lifetime of victimization. It makes sense that she’s choosing a more independent route of saving herself now as trying to depend on someone else has only brought disappointment for her.
I do have to say that the impact of the story would be greatly weakened if ML just finds her and she goes back instead of reaching the eastern continent though. It would be so much more meaningful to see her create her own life without the influence of others, especially since she’s never been able to do so.
Pi Bada = our baddie MC with the luscious hair. Used to play the game alone for a long time until he teamed up with Pi Seongchan and Park Yong-taek., although he has no memories of this. After this, he played the game alone again until he teamed up with Nam Doha. Only has memories of playing alone the second time and after.
Nam Doha = our baby girl ML who teamed up with MC when he became a player. Can somehow kill the killers, unlike MC, and is down bad for MC. Has a habit of keeping secrets from MC.
Pi Seongchan = MC’s cousin with the glasses, was formerly an NPC until MC recruited him. Is currently an NPC again because MC and ML took out his cassette tape. Is currently suspicious because he played on his own when Park Yong-taek’s cassette tape was taken out (instead of helping him). Has claimed that NPCs can escape the game if they become players and finish the game.
Park Yong-taek = the lighthearted joker of the group, first became a player when MC and Pi Seongchan recruited him. Was an NPC at some point until recently.
Bae Hyunshin = one half of the romantic couple in the group, is an airheaded idiot and was temporarily a player with MC until they took out his cassette tape because he sucked at the game. Now an NPC again.
Seo Jae-seob = the second half of the romantic couple in the group (has brown hair and green eyes), is pretty testy and uncaring excluding that one run where MC confided in him about his romance troubles. The only one who has never been a player (as far as we know).
i’m thinking only ONE player can get out of the game and that’s why seongchan stopped yongtaek’s cassette tape… he’s very suspicious bc he was also talking crap behind bada’s back to doha during the first few chaps??? why?? did he want to isolate doha and make him suffer while he solved the game alone

I feel like the ML might be pursuing MC because he’s (MC) willing to accept ML’s version of love, which is “perfect” and extremely dedicated, but he (ML) isn’t specifically attracted to MC, just his yearning for love???
But it’s okay, I’m sure they’ll go through a misunderstanding angst phase and then make up

Philomel’s biological family is the mafia and the ML is Ken LOL, I like this arrangement
