I'm slow, someone explain– I thought the reason the empress didn't punish the consorts was because she couldn't figure out who was in the right. So she tried to be charitable by calling the consorts out but not outright punishing them. Even the empress's lead maid was glad she didn't punish them. So what's the revelation the empress had at the end? I'm sure she would've already known that if she wanted to punish those consorts, she could've– I mean, it's not like the this is her first clash with them? Someone smarter than me please help me out

I think it’s the fact that she thought she needed proper justification to punish the consorts because even though she is the empress, with her more modern morals she porbably believes in a justice system we have today where we give out punishments or sentences after a crime doer is either proven guilty or not. Then when she is getting her hair brushed by the servant and their talking about how she carried out the earlier situation she realizes that she in fact CAN give out punishments to those consorts even when she doesn’t necessarily have proper evidence because she IS the empress. It think it also has to do with making an example out those bully consorts so that they have to become more cautious about bullying Li making them think twice.
Sorry if I explained this horribly ;;- -;

No I think it's just bad writing tbh. These last chapters have been a bit infuriating. This story got popular because people found her character refreshing. She followed her own rules and her own morals and gave as good as she got.
She used to never let anything pass. If they bullied her, or consort Lyn, she would shout and make a scene and make them regret it. We've seen this!!!
So it makes no sense why she would be acting like this other than the fact that the author wants to half ass a reason to make Lyn go bad. It's maddening.
I'm not saying she should have had the consorts flogged or anything, but she could have done SOMETHING. Ask to join in the game and throw the water into the other consorts faces! Ask to watch them play and accidentally splash each other, idk, but anything!!
Not just stand there looking dumb and confused. That's not supposed to be her character!!! First off, the fact that she didn't know she had authority in the first place is absolute bullshit. I don't believe any asian has never watched a palace entregue drama before. That's how entrenched in the the sinosphere harem drama is. She should have known.
Secondly, she and Lyn have the emperor's favor. His ass was literally willing to let her die just because he wanted to marry Lyn!!! The empress hadn't even done anything to him and he already disregarded her life even when she comes from a strong mf family. Whyyyy does she think he would ever stop her from doing whatever the fuck she wants now that he likes her AND she's doing it to protect Lyn?
THIRDLY, again, she doesn't have to take any official steps to retaliate!! It would be in her power to ask the servants to hold her down and have them flogged to death, but she can just splash water at them back or at the very least give them a tongue lashing.
Instead she looks conflicted, does shit all, and doesn't even "realize" Lyn was getting bullied. Fat fucking chance.
And even now while telling the emperor what happened she's still kind of making her out to be confused. "From Lyn's point of view, she probably thinks they were bullying her" BITCH FROM ANY NORMAL PERSONS POINT OF VIEW
Like even if they hadn't poured water on her on purpose even just hanging up on someone like that and talking down on them and making them is still bullying. Is it because she grew up in Korea so she's become accustomed to it?? Like what's going on here.

I mean if you're still here 95 chapters later crying foul because it wasn't a happy story...that's on you. For people that cannot tolerate all the disgusting stuff that happened, you should've been gone like 5 chapters in. Anyone who's made it to this point should know that this story was never meant to be glorified or suddenly turned into a romance. I think the author left it at a good point-- he/she did not excuse all the abuse and sins they inflicted on each other, but also gave one last panel at the very end to suggest that the ML had a chance to redo his past mistakes with a version of the FL that did not experience or remember an alternate abusive and depressing life. Given the premise, it managed to end on a hopeful note, which is more than we could've asked for with how tragic the entire tale was start to finish. Like I said, anyone triggered after reading 95 chapters, you're playing yourself since you knew it was a shit show from the beginning and knew a redemption arc was impossible
literally waiting for the news article(?) about gladys to publish and see how stupid louise reacts to the revelation. AND I HOPE ERNA REJECTS HER APOLOGIES AND MAKES HER WORK FOR FORGIVENESS (I know she won't do that because she's too kind and empathetic, but i still hope)
If this is going to happen, I am happy enough. Thanks for the spoilers kind soul :)
