I've been wanting to read this for a really long time, I even started reading the novel and then got distracted and never finished it. I didn't read the webtoon sooner because only the r15 ver was available in english and I wanted to read the mature version since they cut off a lot of panels from it.
I actually liked the story. It hits a lot when we get into Jiho's most inner dangerous thoughts. Both towards violence and towards self harm. I think it has very mature nuances though so I'm not sure if a younger audience would like it. It's slow and makes you think about your adult life. It kinda reminds me of Form of Sympathy, another great read.
If I have to say one thing I didn't like it's not the age gap per se, but the fact that the story started when Jiho was 17. I don't think it would've made that much of a difference if it started when he was already 18, in all the major plot points didn't matter if he was of age or a minor. Like all the webtoons with this kind of trope I hate when they take in a minor that desperately needs a parental figure and then ends up becoming a romantic relationship... I'm talking about this, Projection, a Tree without roots and others, it's in general a pretty common trope of "found family"... I see that a lot of people are hating on this webtoon because of that reason (which I totally get it and I hate it too) but it's just funny to me how everyone loves Projection though when it's literally the same thing... what's more I found Projection even more uncomfy. Someone in Stranger the pace eased it up a bit how uncomfortable it felt that he was still a minor, though I still think it was totally unnecessary to make them know each other when Jiho was 17. The only time it matter was when he couldn't get a proper job and that Woojung says that its his "fault" for liking someone a lot younger, which both would've worked fine either way even if he was 18.
Second thing I have to say is that I didn't like how Jiho's anger issues have never been properly resolved. It's not normal to be so angry to be thinking of killing someone else and literally almost doing it. As someone who also grew up with parents with anger issues, I think it would've hit harder and it would've been really comforting to read about Jiho surpassing these emotions, even Woojung thought he himself should work out on not throwing glasses for Jiho's sake. I feel like it was quite out of character for Woojung to not help him seek the help he needed.
Third and last thing, I'm kinda sad that the only honorific Jiho uses throughout the entire story until the extras "검사님/prosecutor" got lost in the translation, I think its very dear and cute because it completely separates when he calls out "Woojung" or "Yeon Woojung" and he says his name is pretty.

So I'm on a quest of reading completed popular webtoons that I haven't read because they passed under my radar or because I wasn't interested/gave up on it. I clearly remember I wasn't going to read this at all because I hated how the mc looked like, he always looked a child and he was so thin he was looked like a third of the ml it was giving Love is an illusion.
I feel like it was that way particularly in season 1... Either that or I just got too used to it after more than 100 chapters because in fact Dojun still had a baby face even in the last episode...
ANYWAY I'm sooo glad I went through with it!! Loved that they fixed their past mistakes and miscommunication quite quickly and we got entire seasons of them just dating while still keeping it interesting with drama. Loved those dom/sub hints sprinkled here and there and the husky/chihuahua dynamic!! I sighed when the amnesia arc hit us but it wasn't that bad because we got to see the brother (HES DROP DEAD GORGEOUS) and the blonde thug... so so SO GOOD btw their dynamic is priceless. I would 100% read their story in another webtoon.
I think every loose end got explained so I don't really have anything to say about plot holes. Maybe it would've been nice if we saw more of Jaehee's family I guess since we saw a lot Dojun's family (his brother) and their friends they all know about his relationship with Jaehee.
My absolute favorite scene was when Jaehee was crying trying to figure out a way to keep Dojun by his side when he wanted to briefly go back home. It really hit me when he explained why he was crying. If he really said why, Dojun would have figured out and admit Jaehee was the only one who loved him and that his uncle's family didn't when he desperately was looking for their love and approval. So Jaehee cried because he wanted to say to just stay in his house instead of going where he wasn't wanted but he obviously couldn't say that. Ah it really made my heart beat fast, it was such a bittersweet scene.
Finally ended up catching up with this!! I've been reading this since it came out but I put it aside when s2 started when the little blonde asshole that was working for Seok starting being a sneaky rat towards Dojun because it was starting to piss me off... completely forgot about it until I while ago saw that the main story ended so I'm here now. It was very lovely, I think some things could be explained better but I think there should be side stories coming up. Like are Dojun and Jinwoo ever making up? Is their mother better? Is Ki Jinwoo crush over? Dojun didnt even tell him he was graduating and they havent seen each other in forever. Side couple gets a happy ending? Is Seok condition better now? He never hired anyone else after that blondie. Is Jinwoo quitting his role playing job? Please get him a normal job bro it really feels like he's paying rent with his body if he stays at the guy's house without working like that
Smut was also very good, both couples could very easily switch and I know both tops wouldn't mind at all since they are so whipped so it's kinda disappointing they didn't haha loved the side couple's bed dynamic, as in submissive younger top and dominant older bottom
