From what I've heard, the ml failed to keep his promise and didn't kill the emperor since he believes that the mc won't have a reason to stay with him anymore (I don't think he knows about mc's past life as the emperor's sword), but yea- the mc basically felt betrayed and angry so she ran away from him.
