I'm on chapter 13 rn BUT I had to comment this.
When I started the first chapter I was like "oh another abusive Top, this will be pure smut without good story but okay", while I kinda hurriedly skipped over the first half (also the woman took me off guard).
The cover page also didn't make me feel like I was gonna read a good story, looks very provocative and I was thinking to kill some time.
BUT I'm so invested in this!! The writing is genuinely so good!
The art is beautiful and my heart aches when I think about the Mc and how he's basically put down by Minho(e) all the time.
I'm rooting for Taehwan so badly.
I never thought this would be such a good read, I literally teared up when Mc was crying in the theater and I truly hope he gets happy in the end.
Minho(e) is written so perfectly I can't get over it!! Just read chapter 20 and that character is so complex, we all know he sucks but he's clever in doing a "sweet and salty" kind of play.
He's not straight up beating or abusing Mc like you'll usually see in other Manhwa but he acts just the right amount of sweet and twisted to completely manipulate and put the Mc down while thinking of Minho(e) as the one and only.
The whole scene in that chapter was perfection and the contrast between the "pathetic/you're not pathetic" was amazing.
Ah ngl this just earned a spot in my Top 10 Manhwa.

At first I was confused why the rating wasn't as high as I expected for a story that's about an Mc in a toxic relationship who heals through second lead until I read further ahead....everything feels so wrong and awful, makes my praise for the early chapters feel like lies.

So if you havent read it, the story thus far: uke was in a toxic manipulative relation then meets the good seme falls in love they go steadily but uke sooo manipulated that he doesn't have a self esteem or don't have a self. The cute couple break up as the villain seme again manipulates the uke. Then there's the background on how the shit couple got together and jump to the present, the uke is conflicted and frustrated and confused and still in love with the good seme.
In most cases I'd def be hating on a spineless uke, but i feel soooo bad for the poor bb.
It's like the title suggests; a terrible romance indeed. But with a good writing and art.

As for the weekly thoughts, I personally feel like "Oshi no ko" Season 2 is the Anime of the season, it's just that good. Although my favorite is "Tower of God" Season 2 bc I've been following the webtoon since Season 1 and a lot of love and care was put into adapting it. (Some say it's slow paced but I prefer that over some fast paced-skipping on everything meaningful episodes).
Lastly I'm watching "The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord's Army was a Human" (BANGER OP!), "Why does nobody remember me in this world?" (Such an interesting plot, making me hyped for every episode) and lastly "Atri: My dear moments" (but thinking I might drop it bc it's a bit boring, still very pretty animation).
Gotta start "Elusive Samurai" tho!

Dogun being able to sense the mutant before he arrived makes me suspicious, it could be due to his keen senses as an agent but also something about him being involved in those experiments altering his DNA, he survived the fall from the sinkhole after all.
There's definitely something wrong with him.
I hope Haemin steps up next chapter because I don't think that mutant would hurt the one carrying his child now. I'm a bit lost on where the plot is heading with the sinkhole arc. So far it was a fever dream and I hope we'll get back to seeing some clues being hinted at.
This is getting an Anime, fans assemble!
I always thought it was a shame this never got an Anime while similar works did.
But 2025 an Anime will release, I'm literally so excited!
I don't hate the premise, I'm just praying to everything unholy that the Mc isn't another backbone missing poor punch bag for ML's power trip.

Basically the MC wants to kill the manager of the gambling house bc he's abusive, he even makes him blow him...
The ML seems to share that goal and gives him a phone and makes him a spy so to say.
I don't know what the point of the cigarette and alcohol scene was because he's pretty chill afterwards, maybe rather threatening if anything.
As MC was beaten up for collecting money, he stepped in and beat/killed the guy for him (the Manhwa didn't show).
He said that he'd treat him nicely if he obeys but if he doesn't, he'll end up like that guy.
Otherwise not a lot happens, there's sexual approaches from ML but that was mainly to slip him a painkiller (the manager came through the door).

I think this basically confirms that the otherworldly being infused his body with a variant, his blood doesn't spill anymore because whatever is inside his body feeds off of it so it gets sucked back in.
Also I think the variants are probably artificially produced by the government and that one guy at the organization for which Dogun works for, may be involved. Seeing how he's high ranked and knows about Haemin and his condition.
He'll definitely play a bigger role in future chapters.
It also may be the children that got transformed hence the serial number which Haemin recognized and the the name tag.
Ngl it's really exciting to theorize about a story with each new chapter~
