I see his point and I think it's pretty valid for a really high noble like him who probably just sees the maids as ants. But she has a really shaky position as a commoner baby mama who dosn't have any solid backing so if the rumors got out of control and created a rift between her and the inlaws it would probably put a target on her head and they might find some way of getting rid of her because of all the drama. Plus if she has a good relationship with the maids and workers she is less likely to be hassled and abused. I do think he should just let him fire them though lol.
Also it just feels bad to be gossiped about and have people call you a wicked woman for no reason. most people's reactions would be to want to fix their reputation somehow or correct the rumors.

meh i got about 12 chapters in and I think I'm done. She's not the worst but shes money hungry and kinda stupid. I had to quit when she rubbed her face on a expensive vase for no reason and broke it. like wtf so stupid. The plot has way too many coincidences and plot holes. He banned her from eating spicy food but didnt think to explain its because he has a allergy to chilli like.....wtf. Tbh I can understand why her coworkers hate her she really has been nothing but trouble to them since she got there. ML is bland bossy ceo type that is sometimes a vampire. It's not the worst but its also not the best. Alright if you are bored but im passing on this one.
My problem with the ML is that he didn't just do one or two things to hurt her. He wasn't somehow misinformed or didn't realize what he was doing. He knew exactly what was going on and turned a blind eye to it for YEARS. And didn't try to come up with ANY way to stop it. the dad straight up told him he was going to drive her over the edge and he just say back and let it happen. He was frankly a coward and a shit head and I find what he did unforgiveable no matter how sorry he is now. In this lifetime he was still a shit head until he got his old memories back. He is not a good person. He is a guilty son of a bitch who is trying to make things right because he knows what he did was so unredeemable. If I was her I could maybe forgive him since he genuinely seems sorry but I would never trust him or like him again after that. I find him incredibly unlikeable and no amount of gifts or apologies will make up for the years of neglect and abuse she suffered because of his negligence.
I think it got something to do on how the male lead was brought up by his parents. Although, it wouldn't excuse his mistakes, it would at least explain it. He was fooled by their schemes and never realized how much it affected his wife but also his son. I don't think he necessarily turned a blind eye to it as we can see that he did care for her but again, he didn't do anything to save her. That is why he's making up for everything but changing his every wrong decisions in his past life. The only question is why did he separate his child and wife?

regardless of how he was raised he clearly knew what he was doing was wrong and as an adult he needed to do something to help. Not even bothering to check on his wife and child for years is absolutely turning a blind eye to it. Even a child would know you shouldn't let someone be bullied and abused like that. If he had paid even a little bit of attention to what was going on he would have seen how bad it was. He just didn't want to or couldn't be bothered to.
As to why the kid got taken away I imagine she was in no condition to care for him and he was probably goaded into giving him to the other woman. I will give him credit that he is not malicious enough to come up with that idea on his own he was probably told to or forced to.

yeah he was just focused on stabilizing his power and didn't care at all about his wife and child. Like he had so many options to help her out or at least make her time less miserable and he literally chose to do nothing. not even when he was stabile and had power. that is what pissed me off the most about him was the absolute lack of any kind of effort to peacefully cohabitate with his wife the mother of his only child.
Like if you are going to make him a cold uncaring man stick with it. Don't try and make me like him after I have seen nothing except cowardice, cruelty and indifference. I'd like his defenders to name one good trait about him. Literally all he has going for him is that hes "sorry" that is his only redeeming trait. Narratively his entire character can be described as cold, aloof and guilt ridden. He literally has no good traits. Almost every scene he has been in he has been cold and indifferent to her. even mildly hostile at times. Occasionally looking at his son and spontaneously building a greenhouse are like the only nice things hes ever done here and this is some real bare minimum effort. He doesn't even have good art to be eye candy. All in all i find him to be a real trash tier ML and would really rather they just divorce amicably and she could move on with someone who isn't a living representation of her slow and cruel death.

I actually really like this one! the translation isnt great but the art is and the story is interesting. It is not an ISekai but it follows similar beats. The FL was engaged to the crown prince who abandoned her for a barons daughter that he loved. She left the capital to get away and during a snow storm got entagled with some kind of powerful demon or magician like man. She is trying to carefully monitor him and keep him placated so he dosn't do something dangerous since she can tell he is very powerful. It is a slow burn and the description is misleading with how spicy it is at least so far nothing has really happened between the leads other then some polite banter.
ML is a bit of an ass but to be fair they do owe a shit ton and are years late on paying it plus she is the one who offered to be the collateral. Though if I was her and the aunt i would have just skipped town tbh idk why they are sticking around yall better off leaving the country at this point. All you have is each other and a pot just get out of there you idiots. And why havent they sold the house yet? they could also sell their titles too. yall have known about this debt for god knows how long its not like it just snuck up on you. sell the damn mansion and get a job to pay down your debt or something!
IDK my standards for MLs are sadly pretty low considering what we usually get so maybe its just me but he dosnt seem that bad. like hes not like the ones who demand they pay the debt with their bodies. At least it seems like hes not forcing her to be a prostitute (at least for now). A bit sketchy that he is trying to pawn her off to the princess because she resembles their dead mother buuuuuuut I mean there are a lot worse ways to pay off a debt then that. Idk why he is getting so much hate for lending them money and giving them a pretty gracious extension to pay it off in 10 years. yeah he could be nice and just take the house and cut his losses but they have a business to run and it seems like its against the law to default on your loans in this world so its already pretty nice of him to not throw them in prison for this.

this one is actually pretty interesting! the description dosn't really do it justice and makes it sound like a cringey air head rom com. It plays out more as a story about loss and depression and trying to help someone out of a depression. She isn't an idiot at all really she is just very kind and self sacrificing. The art is very cute and I hope the demon prince is immortal too so they can live together forever
Im dropping this for now. It has some interesting concepts but she is just too childish and whiny. Hopefully she gets better later but she really is acting like a kid demanding to go on her dad's business trip. im not sure how old she is but she DEFINETLY is not acting like the adult she says she is. She's not a bad kid tbh its just.... I know they are going to be pairing her with Zion and its just kinda creepy how childish she is and how hes a straight up caretaker for her. Also that was super irresponsible to take her on a mission like that when she is obviously not ready for it.

I remember what she was going through I just think its been many years since then and him essentially keeping her isolated and dependent on him hasn't helped her mature much at all. I doubt he did this maliciously but she has basically been kept as his ambiguous foster child and dosn't seem to have any friends or connections outside of him. I sympathize with her suffering but she is still really immature and proved to be incompetent on a mission where she easily could have been killed. And I frankly blame the ML for that more then her since she's not at fault for asking but she clearly shouldn't have gone as she had 0 training, tact or instructions. This was a wonderful moment to have her develop some skills or accept that just because he's going away for a few weeks dosn't mean she can't have a fufilling life and maybe make some new friends or see that their relationship is strong enough that he will always come back.
IF she actually matures and grows in the series I'll come back and read it. I just do not like it at all when a FL who looks, acts and talks like a child is paired with their parental figure. I don't care how tortured or abused they were before. Its not a dynamic I like to read about and I'm not the only one to find that kind of relationship of much older man in charge of emotionally stunted girl to be problematic.
You worded that perfectly anon! I was trying to think of how to express my frustrations for a character who could have been great if written a bit better, and this was exactly that.
Yeah I don't mean to discount a character's trauma but it can be a difficult subject to handle and often is poorly done. A while ago there was Am I the Daughter?! and the FL in that was like super over the top abused. It was standard reincarnation where she suffered until 18 and became a kid again. but because she had two lifetimes of knowledge it was pretty tiring seeing her cry and act like a child for 30 chapters it just got really annoying that all she could do was be abused and act like a timid toddler. As a reader you eventually get tired of seeing the character be a useless abused potato.
A better example of the trope is the FL in My Three Tyrant Brothers. Since that is fluff piece centered around their family and her healing. She is also literally a child and the ML is also her age and went through similar circumstances. I think that will have good chances of the FL getting stronger and more competent. the arch mages daughter has a pretty similar structure to that as well and neither of those FLs are really criticized like this one is.
I just think its pretty popular trope to have a sad super abused FL who gets babied back to health right now and Ive read enough of them to be wary of the infinite abuse cycle ones.

Its slightly understandable when the FL is a child, and has no power over her situation, but when she's 18+ and still sits around crying about every little thing that stresses her out, it just leaves a bad taste in the reader's mouth
