Is it just me or is this depiction of first love (Alex -> Nina) one of the best ever? So innocent and pure and heartfelt and hopeful! The idea of letting go and not letting go of your first love, oh how lovely~
My poor Alex, you deserve the world. I feel like Nina is headed towards an ending with the King, so I just hope Alex doesn't become a character who is caught in the crossfire of Nina's romance. I hope he doesn't die (because you know sometimes love interests die!), but rather I want him to be able to find an even stronger love. Honestly, I like him with Nina but she only sees him as a friend and younger brother, and those types of relationships are also as important as romantic ones!
My goodness, I love Alex so much! He's the only one who's made me cried in this story so far! In fact, all these characters are likable! It's difficult for me to find a story in which all the characters are likable and interesting in their own right! Dang it, second ML and third ML syndrome is strong in this story!
I got to chapter ten but... I'm so confused... the plot isn't exactly clear. The characters aren't hateful, but they aren't exactly interesting either. In fact, the characters are just... kinda bland... this story, the plot, and characters are the color beige. Nothing too interesting but nothing terrible. Perhaps I need to read more but after reading ten chapters, it should have hooked me or kept me invested. And it didn't. I'll keep this in my list but it's going to take me a lot of effort to continue reading this.

For someone who was upset about her boyfriend cheating on her when she was working her butt off to pay off her school loans, Mia seems quick to wreck a marriage... I know she is seemingly getting more development but... YOU ARE A GROWN WOMAN OLD ENOUGH TO HAVE BEEN THROUGH SCHOOL IN MODERN KOREA! STOP ACTING LIKE A CHILD AND DROWNING IN THIS FAIRY TALE ONE SIDED ROMANCE OF YOURS! FIND A WAY TO BECOME INDEPENDENT, FIND A WAY TO SURVIVE, FIND A WAY TO RETURN HOME! Geez, and here I thought we'd get two female characters who were decent... I was too quick to hope. I'll stick around to see how she changes.

This is a lot more difficult to read than I thought... I am intrigued by the characters but... IF IT WASN'T FOR DEMETRIUS, I WOULD HAVE ALREADY DROPPED THIS STORY. What a big woman-child. How vain are you that I am THIS close to dropping this story?! Is this how it feels to date an emotionally abusive and manipulative partner who is addicted to social media and to their mirror? My head hurts. I want to like her, she is independent and intelligent and confident, but how much lack of common sense can a person have until I say ENOUGH?! Oh, please... can we get some character development that doesn't involve romantic feelings?

Okay... I just started this... like, literally, I am reading chapter 7 right now and I will just say this now... I will never forgive the father. I don't care if he regrets it, I don't care if he can or does redeem himself. I will not forgive A GROWN MAN WHO DECIDED TO NEGLECT HIS DAUGHTER FOR 18+ YEARS AND END UP EXECUTING HER. I don't care if he does change, I will hold on and continue hating him because he was complacent and hateful. Why does something BAD have to happen for you to realize you were wrong? Because no one was there to love Keira, because no one was on her side, I WILL! I will not allow you to try to beg for forgiveness. Too little, too late!

I love so many of these characters but I have to say... MY FAVORITE IS DEFINITELY KAI! OH, THAT PUPPY~ YOU ARE SO AWKWARDLY CUTE!!! Grow into a good man, okay?! Please, and can we get his love story when he's older? Like, a free love. Not one that is arranged, because he deserves to find love and happiness. He loves his sister in the most awkward, pre-puberty kind of way; I love it!
Im jumping on the "Ibee is annoying" bandwagon too! My problem with her is that she is not the agent to her own destiny. She is unwilling to make a move, to create a wave within the story. She is intelligent and kind, but she is too hesitant and ignorant of human relations. A damsel in distress is a dead trope and it is only an effective trope if she begins as a damsel and becomes a warrior! I wish she would take a confident stance. Everything that happens to her is an effect of others acting for her sake. I hope her character becomes a bit more defined and assertive. Learn to say no, learn to fight back! Don't act all weak and meek and submissive! Don't use the "but I'm a maid" excuse. You have no excuse and shouldn't need an excuse to stand up for yourself and fight for what you want!
Y'all! Why must they change her skin color?! Her beautiful soft chocolate skin color! Why do that to my baby?! If she now has light magic, why couldn't you make her sparkle everytime she walked into a room or give her a spot light everytime she spoke? Instead of that, you had to lighten her skin?! I would she rather become Rainbow Fish in the sun than be a lighter skin tone! Why does it matter that her skin should be lighter after being blessed?! Her skin tone is what made her who she is now! How! Dare! You!
So... as someone who somewhat liked (or at least tolerated) Adele from the beginning, I HAD to skim through all of her scenes and the remaining "romantic" scenes after she ran away (went back home). Her character lost me at that point. Her behavior was a big red flag for me as abusive behavior. As a romantic partner, she had manipulated Felix/Duke Elias by threatening to leave him for various reasons: feeling insecure, feeling jealous, not being told "I love you", and for the sake of receiving a lavish proposal. This manipulation, although played for jokes in this story, was extremely distasteful and I began to really hate Adele's character. Duke Elias was LITERALLY saving his life, her life, and finding justice by tying up the lose ends of the crimes currently occuring; yet, she had the audacity to feel like she was the victim because as a handsome and wealthy noble, he has it better and she might suffer in the long run?! No, no, no. She doesn't know his backstory, and she doesn't even try to understand his position (mentally and emotionally). Just because you feel in love (within a month, by the way) doesn't mean you get to demand his proclamation of love. Just because you said "I love you" doesn't mean he's ready to say it, nor does it mean that his "love language" is the same as yours! Ugh, she became a hateful character in my eyes, so much that I skipped past all her parts after she decided to go home. I know the ending is "happy" but I felt the need to write my feelings because this behavior in reality is dangerous. Mental abuse, especially from a woman to a man, is often ignored or brushed aside and I felt like I needed to write my feelings about it when I saw an example in this story. I still like the story but... Adele turned from an assertive and confidently intelligent woman to a manipulative gas lighter. I understand her plight, but it didn't matter. Duke Elias and the Crowned Prince are the MVP and if you mess with my babies, I WILL HATE YOU.

This! I thought I was the only one who felt her behaviour at the end was completely manipulative. Duke Elias had been trying his best and the fact that he was tying up loose ends with the whole Susan thing himself made me want to really slap Adele. Did she seriously expect everything to be settled quickly???? The fact that she always guilt trip him is the worst. She didn't even bother to listen to wait for him to open up either. I always hate how people are encouraging "strong female leads" to be abusive mentally to a male lead or just any male in general but when a guy does it, they bitch about how he's an asshole. Duke Elias deserved better.

I've been reading his name as "ice" as in ice cube. the FL mentioned in the first few chapters that the author of the novel had a propensity to name the characters after food, thus her name "maise" as in corn, then hazelnut. Iogically, it follows that the ML's name is food related as well. and "y" is often pronounced as "i", as "s" and "c" are also interchangeable thus YSE = ICE
