Most Native American cultures are actually very tolerant of homosexuality and gender nonconformity.
So his mother's reaction is unrealistic, in a good way.

    Leta Cent January 30, 2019 1:29 am

I agree. I know that some indigenous communities in Latin America are ok with homosexuality( despite some being forced in being Catholic) as some even have more than 2 standard genders. They also dont care/ hate on racial mixing ( as long as that person wont put there tradition down). So yeah i am happy that the moms reaction is unrealistic.

Where I live the native americans are pretty racist, and on Kanawaghe reserve they do not allow white people to live there even if they are married to a native american from the reserve.

    LadyBelle January 30, 2019 1:47 am

Culture wise maybe, but within every culture there are individuals. There is also a difference between being comfortable with it in community, and realizing that you'll never get the grandkids you've been planning on. Bet the mom will come around once she gets over the shock, hopefully. If not, at least the dad supports them.

Yeah, there’s still unresolved issues between Natives and whites, so that doesn’t surprise me. As far as being gay though, my tribe is very accepting. Hell, I have a gay uncle and aunt and everyone is just fine with them.

i mean it's not like surrogates aren't a thing in this world....if she's super insanely ridiculously pointlessly set on the race thing then they can maybe find a willing native girl to carry their kids....yes, i say "kids" plural because i feel they'd probably love to have twins carried together; they'd probs love to have a kid that comes from their mate even if the DNA isn't half theirs. It'd also go well towards winning that mother over. She probs couldn't resist spoiling their kids no matter how she tried.

yeah, that's why I said the ones in latin America. I don't think they mean to be racist but native here in the US have high kidnapping, rape, and murder rates and many people trying to force things on them so I get the hate some groups can have to nonlocals. The ones here in the Us are somewhat strick cause I mean people are racist and try to force them to assimilate or give up their land and I understand that. I live by quite a few of them ( five that I know off the top of my head but there are many up the mountain) too since I live in a calli region that a lot of indigenous groups were forced into, so yeah I get that that they try to be are cautious as possible. My comment was about those in Mexico though and it was mainly about the homophobic part to ( I dod mention the race part but even here they don't hate on racial mixing as much as white people can and don't belive they are superior in race they just see non natives as a threat to there culture and traditions which I think is understandable( the mom in this is just racist though so she isn't a true representation of natives)).

yes thank you. I never like when people use the grandchild things as an excuse cause there is no guarantee even a "normal" couple can or will want to have kids. I also feel like they could just adopt and that the mom shouldn't be annoyed by it. But yes I love the idea of the twins that is just so cute. Also, there are places that donate female eggs so even if a native girl isnt willing to lend her uterus and DNA they could just use both systems ( surrogate and donated eggs to be fertilized) and boom the mom still gets her grandkid.

Based on my experience, the distrust Native tribes and nations have of non-Natives in America varies widely by region.
I grew up next to a reservation in rural New York, part of the Seneca Nation, where people were surprisingly kind and open considering life on the reservation could be rough at times.
When I visited friends in New Mexico what surprised me most wasn't how people from the various Pueblos treated White people, but by how racist/bigoted and downright nasty a lot of White people were to the Navajos I saw. Even though it wasn't everyone, the negativity was really disturbing to me.
I've also heard a lot about problems in Oklahoma from a dear friend who grew up there and I can totally get why some of the tribes there hold a lot of animosity toward the American government and its citizens.
Now I live in a state with no Native communities and that in and of itself is depressing on a whole lot of levels.

Reading a yaoi that includes female characters who are nice people (instead of psycho bitches) always makes me happy (❀╹◡╹)

If you want to see the live action version of this story watch the 2004 movie "Denied"
It is the exact same plot as this manga.

I'm kind of surprised I made it past the 1st chapter.
Mercifully, it got better.

You can pretty much see that Bum is gonna kill his "friend" from high-school.
And I don't think he's going to need Sangwoo's help this time.

Errant Belle November 15, 2018 11:26 pm

It's weird that Sangwoo is the new Bum and vice versa

Errant Belle November 12, 2018 6:53 am

I loved this story, but every time I read "Heaven's Gate" I couldn't help thinking of the super weird suicide cult that killed themselves hoping to hitch a ride with the Hale-Bop comet.

This is like the manliest romance ever written/illustrated.
