I'm liking this less and less...
1st, the man murdered his entire family, sorry, but you don't get over something like that
2nd, the supposedly badass ruler looks more like a woman than most women I know
3rd, why do people find abuse such a turn on?
When did treating someone like dirt and smacking them around become romantic?
Where I'm from, when someone hits you that's not love, it's a crime.

I got a strong vibe from chap 6 that Igen might have been avenging *his* family when he killed them, though I might be wrong. The old family picture in the abandoned room that had not been used for decades, and Igen's servant hinting that Igen had been avoiding that room really seem to point in that direction.
Granted, it's not an excuse, though...

If i understood the story correctly, kasan doesnt know yet that he was sold to the person who killed his entire family.

No need to apologize.
I did not mean that as a slight to the translators in any way.
I know scanners, cleaners and translators work hard to make stories available to English speakers and I truly appreciate your effort.
My comment was just my view on what I've read so far, which I've found upsetting.
A lot of readers obviously think this story is "cute" and "romantic"; however, I personally don't understand that because I consider abuse to be anything but cute and romantic.
At the same time, based on some of the responses I got it seems the story might turn around, so I will wait (patiently) to see how things unfold.

Thanks for that.
I was beginning to believe I was the only one for whom rape and abuse was not a turn on.
For me, this is a more accurate depiction of sexual violence: http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/smells_like_green_spirit/bt/e3ad8f9123db6527/Vol2_Ch9/pg-19/
I really love this manga, but I kept wondering why the deaf man didn't talk. He only lost his hearing a year ago, so shouldn't he be able to speak?
I mean, a lot of the people I know who were deaf from birth can still talk; it just sounds a little different than typical speech.
So... I'm genuinely curious as to why the mangaka doesn't have him talk.
He probably can speak, like make sounds, but feels awkward and selfconcious talking because he lost his hearing not too long ago... so he prefers not to speak
Yeah and i imagine that when you talk but can't hear yourself it kind of freaks you out.
Have you ever noticed when you're in a really loud area, like a concert, when you speak you aren't sure if you're making sense, or if you're even saying the right words? I think that's how it is with deaf people. Since speech and hearing is sort of connected, being unable to hear makes it harder for them to talk properly
