At this point after 36 chapters, I wouldn't consider this a reincarnation manga. The main character hasn't done a damn thing with their past life after the first chapter. You could take that bit out, stick to him being your typical amnesiac washed up on the beach, and the story wouldn't change at all. He'd still be crowned due to his hair, he'd still get the magic sword, he'd still get all the knowledge of the past rulers, and he'd still have a war with the Empire.

Unlike Mushoku Tensei, we know next to nothing about his past life's personality, flaws, or desires, and there have been no flashbacks to enrich this possibility, so there hasn't been any type of character growth related to his past life (such as overcoming past weaknesses).

Unlike Gun-Ota, he's not using his modern knowledge to his advantage or to better the world; rather, it's pointless in a superficially medieval fantasy world that actually has mechs, guns, and bio-dolls.

He's not even a fish-out-of-water average-joe character, grappling with suddenly becoming a king, after the power and knowledge was downloaded into him by the magic sword. He was more of a blank slate beforehand, and now he's just a Gary Stu. This would be fine for a self-insert fantasy, but he lost so much relatablility when his reincarnation plot thread was squandered. We don't even get to hear his internal thoughts that could be used to show modern concerns, keeping him relatable.

It feels like the author wrote a straight up fantasty/sci-fi hybrid world, and his editor was all like, "Hey, reincarnation is selling big, put that in there", so it was shoehorned in at the beginning and all but forgotten now.

I like the story overall, but I hate sloppy treatment of plot threads.

Why would I dislike your comment? I find that kind of response to be cheap, as it tells the other person nothing. I would rather have a discussion where each person has a chance to respond to the other.

I've been reading quite a few translations of Japanese works, from manga to light novels to web novels, and many of them are about being summoned to another world or reincarnating into another world, and I enjoy that theme. I like how each author approaches the same subject in different ways. This manga, though, still irks me with how shallow it has treated its own setup. Like I said before, I do like this manga as a whole, but nothing about it would change if you took out the reincarnation, and that should tell you something.
