I'd like to know that one too. I searched for it on online translators, I checked every possible translation for xi but there was nothing suspicious enough to justify their reaction
this is taken from the translator site; they actually explain it under their chapter translation: “zhan zheng xi is his original (full) name.... single letter name like ‘xi’ would be for really close relationships, often romantic. placing ‘a-’ like in ‘a-xi’ is for cute endearment”
so basically they both started blushing because he called him by a nickname used used exclusively for romantic couples (who are that close). hence the embarrassed gay blushing to their elbows. adorable, right?

You can have your own opinions on the manga's plot or characters but please at the very least respect the mangaka.

I just did a quick search on the meaning of taiyou. It can mean the sun or ocean depending on the kanji that is used. for example, 太陽 is for sun and 大洋 is for ocean.
