I forgot his name but the older brother also to a extent) at the end of the day EVERYONE is a victim in one way or another the only difference is how they handle it for example Caesar handled it in a TERRIBLE way, at the beginning he did want to protect ruby and give her a happy life and be a family but at some point those feelings got WAY to extreme and turned from wanting to protect my little sister to I need to protect what's mine (I truly doubt he has actual romantic feelings for her I think it's possessive and obsession) and since he wasn't raised by an actual family (I mean the dad threatened to take away ruby if Caesar didn't become like a puppet and do everything that he was told) to give him proper love he didn't know how to love in a family way (if that makes sense?) but don't get me wrong he literally abused ruby and deserves to get punished I just wished there was therapy in this world because EVERYONE needs it cause their childhood was SHIIIIIT
As much as we all hate the guy, I think this is why Ceasar is actually really well written.
Mostly the villains or even the mentally unstable MLs in these stories are just not relatable. They have no real reason to be that much of an asshole and often they're just assholes to be assholes.
Meanwhile Ceasar, as you said, just wanted to protect Ruby, but didn't understand the way he behaved was wrong all because they were raised by garbage.
In these situations I mourn the relationship these two could have had. I hate Ceasar but I hate the dad more
What if the brother hypnotized the crush to make him a creep? Like he literally hypnotized his whole family for YEARS so I wouldn't put it passed him. Idk I just don't want the author to go the typical route and make the 2nd ml a creep to justify the ml actions and push mc to like the ml
I would like it better if the 2nd ml is not a creep and is clearly the better option. Like this is clearly a dark romance and as much as I would like for them to get together, from that short one and all the things that has happened it would make more sense to get a false sense of security and bam the mc doesn't like the 2nd ml and some ficked up shit starts happening with the ml.

I am confused about the ages. So is Mc 21 or 30? Also Mc said they had a 9 year age gap so is ml 39 then?
