I thought it would be romantic if Jules was the only one who could recognize and support Ilian and he would mature as the person who took care of him now needs his help. But he's just a kid throwing a tantrum cause he doesn't get what he wants. "My love wasn't returned so I will never be kind to anyone ever again"... okay. That's like a kindergarten level of maturity, he's in no way mentally equal to Haven or ready for any kind of relationship really
the moment it was revealed he knew Ilian's kid was in danger and didn't care about it because of his dumb jealousy and also bc the kid wasn't Ilian, was when he completely lost me. I agree... the other male leads aren't a good fit for Haven cause they seem so young compared to her....but it's not like he is more mature. That point when she was like "I would have stayed with you if I knew you were such a lonely child." With the romantic aura was very cringe. She said it, she called him a child.

If you want to not be treated like an infant you have to behave like an adult that knows your own limits and can take care of yourself. I was not impressed at all with how she constant ignored the warnings of everyone around her included her teacher and experienced soldiers ignored her own dizziness to keep healing. Adults know their own limits and how to take advice.
So y'all missed the part where when Kaede and Ren were getting closer? It was because Kaede thought Ren was taking responsibility for Kaede in his drugged state. But that never happened since it was the other guy. Ren has never tried to help or take care of Kaede, even when Kaede asked. This is a completely one-sided relationship with Kaede only taking care of Ren. All Ren has contributed is finding Kaede sexy and then losing his shit.
When zigrien cries, I will cry the loss of trust between them is so much more impactful than many Shoujo plots. No villain kidnapping the heroine could you this for drama.
