it feels like it's TRYING to be deep, but without taking the time to develop any of the characters. Like, the princess doesn't need to REPEATEDLY say she's going to protect her friend. Idk. Maybe it gets better?

Also, while their reactions to him making amends was sad, it was also reasonable and they don't deserve hate. He just disappeared and came back out of nowhere with a SHIT ton of money when previously he was a drunk, gambling addicted hobo who sold his sister's car, emotionally manipulated his ex for money and apparently borrowed money from his family too.
It'll take time, but I think he'll get through to them eventually. Though it's going to be difficult when he can't tell them what he does.
