The story wasn't focused on romance. Rather it was exploring themes of self-acceptance, visibility, ways of being an ally, identity not solely focused on sexuality or gender. If there is a character or scene you want a better understanding of, feel free to ask. I'll do my best to explain. I can see how the story may be a little confusing if you don't have a lot/any personal experience. I hope this helps some ^^
