I don’t know if it’s because I’m an adult…but If I know beforehand that a story is a noncon - or that a story is very dark “romance” - I don’t mind the troublesome elements. Like I can read it and realize it’s fucked up and enjoy it as a fucked up story. Kind of like when I read horror. I absolutely don’t want to be kidnapped and killed but I can enjoy reading that horror story understanding that’s what it is.
It’s when a story gets portrayed as “normal” that I then get the ick factor. I think this story made the rape very clearly a rape. The male lead wasn’t getting raped and having those “I hate it but I love it” thoughts that a lot of Yaoi will do. I also feel like the male interest was set up as a kind of sociopath with deep perversions. Or some kind of psychopath…
I feel the same! I can appreciate dark media so long as it's portrayed as "dark" and "wrong", acknowledging it's messed up, but that's the plot and theme of the story. But this manhwa makes me feel so much pity for MC and am I supposed to ship them? That's messed up (⊙…⊙ )
I think had this been tagged as a psychological manhwa, I'd like it more because the characters are built for it already
Agree!... checking the tags and synopsis before you read explain a lot of things. And it's not like liking this type of stories doesn't mean you tolerate this in real life...
I definitely think whoever uploaded needed to tag psychological I don’t know if the original work is marked that way but it clearly has those elements. But I got the gist that the author isn’t romanticizing the doctor so much as setting up how he’s kinda all fucked up so I don’t have an issue that some people are taking with the story so far. Depending how the full story gets written I might end up changing my mind

Like cool you don’t care or somehow didn’t notice (it’s a pretty clear change, and not because the new one is “bad” it’s just clearly “different” but part of that might be because Thadd was pretty close to the original and new characters are obviously going to have no comparison) but even if you don’t mind the new style why get upset at people who are sad that the style went from unique and really good to something more generic? Just let them mourn the change they can be upset and you can be indifferent
I mentioned this on another site where I read it first, but I find the side affect of suppressants in this story interesting. It’s the 1st time where the side effect can CAUSE a heat by great physical shock. I like that it’s a bit different from other stories. Usually it’s that they can harm you over time, make it hard to get pregnant/carry a pregnancy to term, stop working over time etc.
Also something I find funny is that in the 10th chapter we have him trying to scare the MC by saying he wants to see him crying but then when he DOES come upon him crying he seems unsure of how to respond lol
