This was pretty dumb honestly. I mean the dude gets depressed that his lover who's good with kids can't have kids if they're in a relationship so he tries to break it off all on his own accord? I think that was pretty selfish of him. You're in a relationship talk it out rather than deciding thing by yourself. Well in the end it's a manga it's not supposed to be realistic but meh it irked me either way.
(〜 ̄△ ̄)〜

He was feeling insecure, worried that he would cause the person he loves the most to lose his family if they found out, as well as lose any chance of having kids. Should he have communicated, yes...but there are a lot of RL relationships where one or both parties bottle things inside instead of discussing things. That's one reason relationships fail.
I don't see how he's any more selfish than people who have kids just to trap their partner in a relationship, or just so they will finally have someone that loves them (those are both real examples btw...I can give more if needed). Humans are selfish creatures, even when we are trying to do what we think is the right thing for our loved ones. Sorry you can't see the beauty in this manga

I understand where you're coming from, but when did Shizuka ever say he wanted kids? And who's to say Shizuka's family wouldn't be accepting of their relationship? I'm pretty sure he was already aware of what it meant to enter a relationship with Sakai. And even if he is a "follow the heart" kind of guy, Shizuka doesn't strike me as the type to enter a homosexual relationship without considering its consequences.
Sakai was the one jumping to conclusions and distancing himself from his lover. I agree when you say a lack of communication does end relationships, and perhaps "selfish" wasn't the right term as "I will Shatter Your Broken Heart" put it, but they were right to say that Sakai shouldn't have made decisions for Shizuka, especially when he showed no signs of wanting to end their relationship. Personally, for me, that was an extreme eye rolling inducing moment.
And really, you can't compare someone who traps their partner into a relationship with kids to Sakai who breaks his from lack thereof. And I disagree with both you and "I will Shatter Your Broken Heart" when you say he's selfish (or maybe you're refuting that? idk) My problem with Sakai is that he's extremely unselfish to a fault. Not to mention too docile for my liking. Someone has already said this in the comment above, but he puts no effort into his relationship because "he's thinking for the good of Shizuka" but strangely enough, he pushes aside his resolve when Shizuka comes knocking and that really solidified my dislike for this manga. Sakai. I was hoping to see some strength in him. To see him be selfish in his love and go after Shizuka, rebuild a new relationship with him even through Shizuka's suffering of his amnesia. But he left that up to the man who doesn't even remember loving him.
So yeah, maybe some of us can't see the beauty in this manga because there is none.

I call Sakai selfish because he take up 100% of the decision making that affects(or is it effects) their relationship rather than distributing that job between the two. I call Sakai selfish only in that aspect but for everything else...hmm ( ̄へ ̄) I would have liked to see Sakai be more selfish I think it would have made him a more likable character to me.

totally agree, I honestly like it when characters fck up and then spend time trying to make up for their mistakes, or even shitty characters all the way, but he was such a drama queen, I swear. He basically decided by himself someone else's options in life and hid the truth from him. We get it, you are insecure, but this is on a whole new level dude!!
Especially if you consider the other memory loss manga that has been scanlated recently which was infinite times better, this story was unnecessarily dramatic and filled with clishe's in my poor honest opinion.
Couldn't even get emotional about it or connect with any characters. meh ~ ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

I reeally hate shitty manga like this. A weak pitiful "bird in a cage" like main character. To those who like this sorry, but I think this is such a shitty manga. Rin is also shit. Ugh I feel like I'm using the word shit to much but that's the only word I can think of to describe such a manga. Hmm... I should open a dictionary once in a while.
This story reminds me of the korean yaoi light novel "kill the lights"
omg yes but I like Mason and his old ass more than the uke here haha he's badass!
