Why do authors STRUGGLE to write adult characters? This is a romance, not just BL, trope I’ve noticed. Where the only way the author knows how to write the adult MC falling for the ML (if MC is uke or woman) is by writing them with the mentality and critical thinking skills of a particularly dumb 15 year old. Like they’ll be 25+ years old but reacting to the ML’s advances, or any situation in general really, like they’re just hitting puberty. It’s so frustrating.

Why include blackmail and rape if in the end it’s going to be brushed aside like it never happened??? Was this thing cancelled so the author had to wrap it up quick or something? What a waste of time.
Why even have it start out, and continue for a entire volume, with rape and blackmail if the author was just going to pretend they had a normal sex buddy relationship afterward?~ The seme is a violent rapist and we were just supposed to forget? Why is it always “my rapist was nice to me one time after raping me for the tenth time… maybe they’re not such a bad guy after all” UGH. BARF.
They really pulled a “rape was the only way to save you” what trash writing. Girl NO ONE is on your side they’re ALL your enemies the forgiveness came quick with this one. Yet again, another strong FL lobotomized by trash writing and a need to force the main couple together, even if it doesn’t follow any of her previous behavior.
The author is going to pull some “the only cure to a love potion is to sleep with someone who truly loves you” to justify the rape. Barf. Let’s hope not.

Even if he didn’t kill her parents and is doing all this to “protect” her, what part of constantly raping her is protection? He’s still more concerned about his carnal wants than her mental stability/health. He could still act the villain without rape. Even if everything is revealed and he truly does love her, he’s still rapist trash and I BET he will never apologize for raping her. That will be glossed over and forgotten and the story will only focus on Orville’s betrayal once it’s revealed and the ML won’t have to apologize for anything but lying to her. UGH
They could have had him building sexual tension and coaxing her to consent through seduction throughout the entire story just to add to her confusion and giving proper build up to when all is revealed and she finally does, but no. Constant Rape. UGH
Are people out here really completely trusting the Duke and his family, when they’ve been shady as hell since the beginning? Like they haven’t done reprehensible shit in the past? They go out of their way to lie, hide, and scheme behind the MC’s back, and ya’ll really defending a man for something we don’t even know what is yet, how the tutor “lost everything”, just because he’s a little soft around the MC sometimes? He still lies to her like all the time. It sounds like the tutor was likely forced to give up her child, or there was again scheming by the family around it. You can like him as a character and you can like the main couple (even though the MC lost like half her brain cells after falling for the duke, as seems to always happen in these romances) but please try to understand the story and text that are outside of the romance scenes, I promise you’ll get more out of the story if you do.
I’m sorry, but I really don’t think that she was forced to give up her child. Have you seen the way she was acting? She was talking about the other family was disgusting and the other. Yeah, you think she actually gives a fuck about that child? If she can waltz into that home like it’s Tuesday afternoon then I’m pretty sure she could’ve raise that child. And she came back and she did not even ask how is her son doing? She’s just telling the main character that she shouldn’t have kids at all meaning she regrets having celphi! So is it really weird that we want to trust The ml family when we have seen More about them than about her? How have you read 100 and something chapters and you’re over here saying that we can’t trust the male lead after everything? And the way that his mom spoke to the male lead says enough
Also, I wanted to point out what do you mean by he keeps lying to her? She stops herself from asking the necessary questions because she feels like he won’t tell her but I think that if she would’ve pressed a bit he would’ve told her, she respected his decisions. And trusted that he will tell her when the time came. Personally, I actually really like the main character because I feel like they didn’t make her Nosy. She said herself that she doesn’t really know if they really trust / see her as familie (which they obviously do) so she keeping herself out of their business and is trying to figure things out by her self.

Whose first reaction to waking up in a place you staunchly refused to go, that you’re completely unfamiliar with, AND right after being assaulted, is to find a random bathroom and take a bath? And refuse to put your old clothes on, mind you this is after being assaulted by a random alpha and touched by the ML while you were vulnerable, so you would rather be mostly naked in this unfamiliar place… Sometimes the author writes the MC in an almost believable way when reacting to a situation, and then other times they have the MC’s brain freeze just for the purpose of fanservice. Bc that’s what the bath scene is. It will impact the story 0 going forward.
Baekwoo doesn’t have a real personality. He is written for the sole purpose of accommodating the prince’s toxic/controlling behavior without making him look bad (like if he was severely depressed and traumatized by being forced into marriage with a stranger solely because he is biologically likely to give their family powerful babies, all while being expected to give up all of his freedom, autonomy, and dreams to work as crown princess every day against his will, there would be no way that the prince would be anything other than a villain perpetrating this abuse)
