NOW im with kael in this. i felt like i needed to pour my opinions too HEKWOWWI like hestia is right to see that as kind of betrayal like her keep saying diana apologising kael is not enough/genuine and sees kael as unnecessarily forgiving BUT she doesn’t see the full range of kael’s perspective. like he just wants nothing to do with diana anymore and he is aware that none of her apologise will be genuine at all so he DOESN’T EVEN want that. i wish she could see that but everyone is a human so yeah
hess justifies the things as much objective as she wants, and does so. ofc, cuz she is THE reader. she has read and know about everyone’s inner thoughts, feelings about the things, like how diana is not sincere at all or knowing that helios is the definition of guilt trip. she also knows how caelus felt the betrayal deep in his bones and questioned his life for spending his soul for diana, but she misses one thing: what current caelus is feeling right now? she projects her own feelings and resentment towards diana more strongly upon how caelus feels and progressive about her revenge. she wants the absolute worse for her. and spends her energy on it as well. but as i said, because she IS THE READER. she doesn’t feel belong to this world as we can see and thinks that she will disappear somehow or die. but caelus NOT. caelus is still inside that world. he is the duke now and one wrong move might result decades of consequences. if he sides with nobles to stripe diana off her crown princess title (no matter how much she deserves to be), nobles will have an authority on imperial family decisions and power will shift. no one will obligation to follow imperial strength and that might cause diplomatic issues alongside with inner struggle. if he sides with crown princess, which he doesn’t cuz he doesn’t even defend diana in any situation, again whole country will be uproar and rebellion might occur. he chooses to stay neutral and leaves everything within the imperial family and nobles issues which means that he will be on purpose to serve the country (or whatever that means that’s how i interpreted). hestia has rights to feel betrayed cuz what do you mean your husband, your dearest, your favourite character’s decisions doesn’t align with hers, wasn’t he driven to the de3th cuz of diana’s words, wasn’t he dy3ng cuz of one sided love towards her and his actions were not appreciated at all? yes, but as i said, for hestia, this is like a 2-3 years of life that’s going to be finalised after diana will see the doom and the revenge is being completed. for caelus, who held his duties above his feelings, (no, he even didn’t need to do that cuz he loves hestia and healed from diana and learnt how one sided extreme love caused to him, so he is already over that resentment feeling and don’t even want to spend his energy on them reasoning the rest of his life) this world is THE LIFE. for him, this is not a novel, he is living in this world, and the duke of the empire, so i believe that’s why he makes a decision like that. to save the country from further inner power struggle which affected the diplomatic relations and get a break. that’s i’m mostly on caelus’s side here, even though hestia doesn’t feel belong to this world and thinks this world will come to an end in no time and wants to see the end of diana, caelus is going to live in this world and don’t know when it is coming to an end, so he acts as a the duke of the empire and goes with his morals and rights
