why do bl authors always add rape for no reason? drawing a scene where a character asks to stop during sex and their partner keeps going is a conscious decision. especially if they don't treat it as actual rape. its so disgustingly obvious that the author has a non-con fetish they're trying to sneak into the story.

Unexpectedly, this was pretty good lol. It was dark and problematic but at least the writer didn't treat Taeju's behavior at the beginning like it was normal, and in the end Taeju did put in the work to win Euihyun over. A lot of BL writers seem to want to write rapey stories while framing the narrative like it's a cute love story when it isn't. Taeju and Euihyun were fucked up from start to finish but somehow they were able to complement each other. I also really liked that Euihyun was never the typical spineless uke (ahem, kim dan, ahem). I don't usually leave comments with my opinion but I made an exception for this story because it was a very pleasant surprise xD

I heard this was a adapted from a novel. Does anyone have the link to read the original novel in english?

why are they acting like they’re being held on gunpoint and forced to translate if they hate the story so much. like yeah the story is shit I dropped it less than 10 chapters in but the fact they can just stop translating if they’re morally against the author’s portrayal of rape??? ur literally bringing even more attention to this trash by translating it
I think it’s more about spreading awareness regarding the relationship. It’s undeniably toxic and heavily reliant on emotional and mental dependency. However, some people might view this manhwa as portraying a "possessive boyfriend" trope and find it appealing or even romantic, despite the relationship clearly lacking genuine love and affection. The concern is that readers could be influenced by such unhealthy dynamics.
I mean it’s true the translator could have chosen to stop working on it if they disliked it, continuing the translation might also serve as a way to shed light on these issues and spark discussions about toxic relationships. By reading the manhwa you can develop a better understanding of what healthy and unhealthy relationships look like, rather than blindly romanticizing them. I appreciate it because it shows they are highlighting the issues rather than justifying them.
And you can scroll over it too... I mean sometime her notes are long but if you can read a manhwa about kidnapping and rape then you can easily skip a note from the translator.
I already dropped the manga. What does skipping the notes have to do with anything? It’s hypocritical of the translator to write long notes criticizing a manga she chose out if her own free will to translate. And about spreading awareness about toxic relationships, her notes are hardly that insightful. she’s just going “this is bad, this is wrong” while still translating a manga so that more people can read it. Sure, the author won’t benefit from her translations cause they’re on an illegal site but it doesn’t change the fact that she’s making a terrible, morally reprehensible manga available to an even wider audience.
Stop trying to make it look like she’s doing some amazing service. The notes are shit. The manga is shit. Nothing of value comes out of her notes. Normal sane people know the story is trash and will drop it. Weirdos who are into rape will keep reading despite her notes. She shouldn’t even have bothered to translate this garbage.
I get where you’re coming from, and I agree there’s some hypocritical in translating a manga while criticizing it. But I don’t think the translator’s goal is to justify or promote the story. It seems like they’re trying to point out its flaws, especially for readers who might not notice them right away.
Her notes might feel repetitive but they could remind some readers that the content is problematic. Not everyone will see the toxic parts immediately, some might even romanticize them, so her notes could help at least some people think more critically about what they’re reading.
Ignoring the manga completely won’t stop it from existing or being read. By translating it and adding notes about its harmful aspects, the translator is opening up discussions about why this kind of content is bad. It’s not a perfect solution, and it’s fair to feel like her effort isn’t enough. But I don’t think dismissing her work entirely or saying it has no value is completely fair either. it might still make some difference.
You can just skip her long messages in the notes if they bother you that much. I mean you literally dropped it
And “weirdos who are into rape” but still reading it despite her notes is true. But kids who come across this type of content might not realize how problematic it is. The translator’s notes is a constant reminder that this behavior is toxic and not okay, which could make a difference for them.
You can write ten thousand words to defend the translator notes but that doesn’t change the nature of what they really are: virtue signaling for a cause the translator does not stand for because if they did they would stay away from this type of media.
You could just skip my comment. Just cause something is easy to ignore doesn’t mean you have to. I didn’t like the notes and I didn’t like the story so I’m here complaining about it. Saying “well you can just ignore it” is the most brainless argument lol.
And I'm just expressing how I think I feel and how some may feel. It's a fucking comment section your gonna see ppl who won't agree with your opinions. In simple terms bc god forbid a bitch replying nicely and respectfully just to get crapped on bc your personality is shit, this is a comment section meaning there are different people here and I just so happen to agree with some of your opinions, but the problem is you’re not really considering other people’s points of view besides your own.
Seriously, is being rude and mean considered a personality? Because it’s not. I’m done. You’re so stuck on your opinion that you refuse to see where others are coming from, which makes this discussion completely pointless. I’m honestly just wasting my time on someone who doesn’t understand basic decency.
Why would I take care about the opinion of a complete stranger who’s writing a fucking bible in my replies lmaooooo
I’m not obligated to indulge your dogshit opinion or to be nice to you. I don’t know you. You’re words on a fucking screen.
Good riddance.
Why do i need to consider your point of view when i don’t even fucking know you. this is a fucking comment section on a bl manga your asking ppl to think about your feelings. you’re fucking crazy
