MC made it so clear that he doesn't have any romantic feelings for his friend. In MC's mind, it's Sunbae 24×7. It is as clear as the day that Sunbae is the ML.
I think it comes from people who like childhood friends turning into lovers. I also love that kinda plot, too, but not here. You can't just magically develop feelings for someone who you knew from childhood. In most cases, it is always a sibling bond. And it's not guaranteed that if you are best friends, then you will automatically make a great couple.

Basically when he was a teen Andrew had an obsessive stalker, but his politician dad didn’t want to do anything about it because it would look bad. Andrew did some dumb shit to try and scare him off, but somehow their confrontation got caught on camera and publicized.
