I think when they were children, he saw Geon as a puppy. Like you just want to be their whole world and such. But human beings are complex and respond differently. I’m not saying that Hyungnim deserves what’s coming for him but he also could not react and raise Geon properly because of the circumstances. Everyone is saying that this story teaches us to not help abused kids let’s be fucking for real. It was already stated that he was only allowed to take care of Geon because the eldest prince was fond of him.
In the real world, there are measures in place to deal with emotionally and physically abused children that does not have to lead to more psychological trauma for both the victim and the helper of the situation. If anything, this is a lesson on how imperial politics turned two perfectly normal boys who could have had a perfectly healthy dynamic into something twisted because of their cruelty. There is a reason why most of the world has abandoned that system because it gives birth to more tragic stories like this.

Haewon, by himself, is pretty interesting like his logic and the way he approaches things. His temper , obsessive tendencies, abandonment issues and all the trauma behind it is very compelling. Like holding on to someone without loving them yet forcing yourself to try just to not be alone is pretty human and realistic.
I think the problem with this manhwa for me is really just that I just can’t get into Yunoh. He’s fine as is, I love crybaby semes but he really hit the ceiling of what I’ll consider as whiny, you know. I get that he’s young and immature and he got hurt a lot seeing Haewon with so many other people througout the years that he probably grew up but there’s a certain lack of conviction there that’s just tiring to read about. “Woe is me. Hyung doesn’t love me. Hyung is forcing himself so I won’t leave but doesn’t see me as a romantic partner.” Yeah those are all pretty valid reasons to be insecure but what has he done to change any of that? NOTHING. Yunoh is the one that lost his mind whenever Haewon tried to sleep with someone else. Yunoh is the one who forced himself on him when he was in a rut. And yet when Haewon gives him a chance, he cries about it cause he can’t feel Haewon’s sincerity? Then he should’ve let Haewon date other people if he was gonna be like this! Or better yet he should have just left for a while until he was over his feelings. He was way too selfish and still is. EITHER LIVE YOUR WHOLE LIFE IN A ONE SIDED LOVE OR DO SOMETHING WHEN HAEWON GIVES YOU A CHANCE. CHANGE HIS FREAKING MIND. BE A GOOD LOVER. MAKE HIM SEE YOU AS A MAN.

Honestly, is Yunoh wrong? Not really. All we see is abandonment issues and not really any like real genuine romantic interest. Not saying it’s Haewon’s fault, I’m definitely on his side here. But I do get Yunoh’s insecurity. But alsoooo, I’m tired because Yunoh is not doing any shit about it, not even attempting to change Haewon’s mind but still having the energy to whine and complain. Haewon is putting an effort for them to stay together and make him comfortable but I just don’t see the same effort from Yunoh. Damn, at least TRY to make him view you as a romantic prospect. This is so interesting in a sense that I’m not really sure where the story is going with this, everyone is pretty straightforward and also understandable??? There are really no glaring red flags so far. MC and ML are both likable and 2nd ML is also okay so far. 10/10 would recommend, I hope this doesn’t take a drastic turn.
I sure as hell hope that “used to like him” was actually in past tense.
All throughout the story I was wondering why this was an 8.8 cause it was moving toward the 9+ direction for me but I think the ending was a bit underwhelming. I think it just wasn’t enough to convince me that Shirato was truly over Ran. I kinda wanted that feeling that Shirato would still be in love with Kuroda even if Ran wasn’t a cheating prick. Maybe a bit of a chase should have happened? Like a realization that even if Ran wanted him, Shirato still wanted to be with Kuroda. The whole thing just made me feel like he was settling and it rubbed me the wrong way. Everything leading up to that was great anyways.
Like he genuinely enjoys sex as long as they are pretty and skilled, whether it be man or woman, and does not like sex with Enzo. Our boy feels NOTHING for that man except for the fact that he’s pretty. And I’m sure he has met a lot of pretty people, maybe not as pretty as this psycho but something tells me, Enzo is miles behind Candy in terms of emotional impact on Uno at all.
