I’m sorry, but I’m getting tired of these manga creators treating normal sex like it’s rape. No matter how many times Chiaki and Daigo have sex, she’s always screaming at him to stop, as if she doesn’t enjoy it. She doesn’t appear to even want to stimulate him either. And always acting like they’ve never had sex before. It’s so nerve-racking.
As a female reader, it’s a massive turn off how she’s behaving. How am I supposed to enjoy this if she’s not enjoying it?

It's the Japanese mindset. Basically, a woman should always be embarrassed, meek and coy about having sex and during sex. Even when they portray them as having some sexual agency, like Chiaki does, she still needs to keep that innocent, meek trait so she won't appear to have "loose morals" or something like that. Otherwise she falls into the "fallen woman" trope, even though that's not remotely accurate.

I want to thumbs up this comment.

This trope Japan has where the woman has to beg and cry during sex or pretend to not understand sex...even though they're a grown adult, happens in every smut manga. There have been times where I was just put off or completely annoyed by the screaming and tears.

It can also be a kink dude. Why do you think safe words exist? For show? Like bruh.

Exactly is the consent non consensual kink. I mean I’m not defending that there is defamation some red flags but there is a kink for that type of play.

I swear, Maxi needs to stop being so freaking negative all the time. Riftan isn’t the only one that needs to open their mouths and speak.

What part of these characters being genderless do y’all not understand?

    LeRain August 25, 2023 4:04 pm

I don’t understand why you’re bringing it up, the talk about characters being genderless happened years ago. Most of us here are up to date. Also in Japanese they you explicitly male pronoun, thought you may find it interesting. There’s no point in getting angry over misgendering a character.

This is why scanlations are ass. Sometimes these translators don't know how to translate correctly.

its not the fault of the scanlators, don't blame everything on them. The Japanese language has no intersex nor gender less pronouns although they have words to refer to those types of people its not necessarily a pronoun and they is used in context when referring to multiple people not as a pronoun for an individual.

Yeah, you’re right. I shouldn’t really complain since I’m not even reading the scans anyway.

Cai August 22, 2023 9:59 pm

Japanese people have really ran out of ideas, huh?

Cai June 26, 2024 2:08 pm

As much as I like Yumi Tamura’s art style, this particular manga is rough. And the scanlation is all over the place. I’d still like to read an official translation of this, though.

I’m really starting to get bored here. When is this story going anywhere? My Happy Marriage is moving faster than this.

Cai August 11, 2023 9:32 am

Was the Isekai element even necessary for the story? It could’ve easily been about a girl who was sold into slavery and was bought by a nobleman.

    ella5911 August 20, 2023 8:38 pm

Agreed, just unnecessary confusion for nothing.

    Justcallme October 11, 2023 9:11 pm

True! Didn’t see anything related to her original world lol

Japanese creators really need to stop making it so that male characters drop their last names in favor of their female spouse’s last name. There should never be a reason for a man to do that. (╯°Д °)╯╧╧

    Doki Doki99 August 11, 2023 7:23 am

Daddy Chill it's never that serious. A man keeping his last name or not is up to him and his partner. Not everyone shares the traditional view and that's ok

Hmm. Sounds like a thing Japanese guys do in manga and anime.

    IceQueen4U April 12, 2024 8:42 pm

I mean, by today's standards unless you're part of a royal lineage, there's no legitimate reason why a woman has to take her husband-to-be's surname either— other than preference.

In older times, women were viewed as kind of like property, and marriage+changing her surname was seen as passing ownership and responsibility from her father to her spouse; And royalty is a no-brainer, since there's a duty to keep the name of the literal people who own that land and govern the people.

Personally, I like the idea of taking both names to respect and acknowledge the unity of both families.

It happens how u marry. If u marry into the brides family and they have a business then the husband takes the last name as the point is to carry the business name through the kids .
It's mostly depends on which side is more influential

    Odinh October 9, 2024 7:32 pm

It’s not a ‘Japanese thing’. I’m from Australia and I know many young couples doing this. Because honestly why not? In one case, the husband doesn’t like his last name because it associates him with his father who abandoned him and his family, leaving his sickly mother to raise two sons on her own. While his wife’s dad has been a great father figure that he wanted and needed. Therefore he felt honoured to take his wife’s last name.

Cai August 9, 2023 2:59 am

Seriously the author for Bastard! is a huge man child. There’s nothing great about the manga at all. If the ecchi elements were taken out, this would’ve been a better manga.

Cai August 9, 2023 2:25 am

So Yoshino‘s father is another guy who abandon his last name in favor of his wife’s because of family issues. What a puss.
