It's 100% the mangaka's preference. In real life, any woman with breasts this big will have weight in her face, upper arms, and belly to match. I will hand it to the mangaka that he will add some of it. And on the specifics of Japanese women, Nonomiya-san is the norm and Kobuchi-san is closer to the ideal.
But that is part of the comedic affect. I can ignore the unrealistic parts with the fluff of the story. Personally, Nonomiya-san is my favorite character and her husband looks more like a foreigner/half Japanese due to his size and features. Okusan doesn't have ambiguity, which is why he can get away with it while she cannot.
There has to be some mistake here. This manga feels more like a Seinen than a Shounen.
Definitely feel like a seine (that's why I love this manga ) but usually the "genre" is taken from which publishing house it's coming from and this one's a shounen

You do have a point but I don't think Riftan's approach is appropriate because treating a child this restrictively would just lead to a rebellious child who gets them selves to to even more trouble as soon as you look away (which I think equates perfectly to Maxi's actions that put herself in danger)
Even children need to be guided with respect for them to properly learn so of course this would also apply to Maxi who is a grown adult
I just think that if Maxi were a man, even a weak and foolish man who gets into trouble, I don't think she'd be treated the same.
(With all that said, I do think Riftan is improving in this regard, albeit slowly)

She might learn to heal, and accept love, but for the moment at least, it isn't happening. She'll keep wondering "is he going to hit me" "is he going to abandon me" until she can confront her father (idk if this made sense)

and that's why she needs a therapist not a magician, i think they just both lack communication and honestly this time im on riftan's side because i have experienced real people die infront of my face and it's really traumatic, i kind of get what he is saying (though I don't agree with him babying her) when someone you love dies infront of you, anything in this world won't matter you will say what you want to say even if it hurts the other person. Im just saying this because it literally happened to me, If that was me I'd be saying worst things than riftan has ever have trust me, if you were in that situation you will do the samw too.
