The art is so good. But the story is so meh.

Why is this so funny XD. I love the humor in this. Has 19 Days vibes.

I was 2 chapters in and felt strangely unsettled. So glad I checked the comments before reading further.

The art is beautiful, but the story is toxic AF (also very similar plotline to several others). It was also difficult to invest myself in the political intricacies because they kept speaking like pirates using Old English, which made me burst out laughing every single time. The moment they threw out "skullduggery", "buggery", etc, I just could not take even the most somber moments seriously. The language would work perfectly if it was set in England or some other ancient Western setting, but it just didn't fit for a story set in Korea -- at least not for me.

Lowkey seems racist lol. Koreans can’t speak eloquently but the English can?

Soooo you’re reading the English translation…not the original text in Korean

    faded September 21, 2025 7:09 pm

i hate to have to explain the concept of translation to you, but you’re i hope aware that the only reason the TL has decided to use this language would be to give english readers a better idea of the manner of conversation that feudal society (which didnt just exist in england or the general “west”!) perpetuated. the purpose of a translators job is to accurately represent a language’s nuances based on things like historical context, socioeconomic status and gender and give non-speakers as much of an accurate TL so they can read as the author intended. i promise you that expecting this story to adapt to modern colloquialism (just because its korean…?) would be even sillier than having to read words like “skullduggery” every 30 chapters or so.

Is this boy crazy? You can't give your heart away to some asshole just cos he's got a nice looking face (⊙…⊙ )

How has Euwoon survived this long? He's got no self preservation instincts lmao ( ̄∇ ̄")

That little kid saying "it's fruitless" cracked me up lmao

I LOVE this kid's transformation. Now that's what you call character development.

Fact: The older brother is the perfect man.

Young gives me major emotional abuse vibes. It's not just the manipulation. He's clearly trying to isolate Sunny from both the college friends and from Taesung by planting seeds of doubt everywhere and having other people do his dirty work. I hope he get what's coming to him before the end (๑•ㅂ•)و✧

    Anon August 30, 2019 5:37 pm

I think it’s super clear it’s emotional abuse; even Sunny is aware that he’s been whittled down into nothing so that he basically can’t leave Young. It’s difficult and sad to see him trying to ‘color’ himself; he may or may not see that he is using our MC to quickly erase the past. That can only lead to heartbreak for our MC because he won’t really be sure if he’s cared for / just useful. Definitely a great deal of healing and patience will be needed, though I’m sure Young will thwart anything that feels like a loss of control like any abuser would. Sigh.
