There's this user on instagr@m who posted spoilers and detailed analyses of the novel and she read it from the legal site, not the inaccurate translations available illegally. It changed my entire outlook of the series.
Oh wait really? Just give them a follow request, they already have so many followers so they wouldn't ignore yours.
As for the spoiler, it's nothing climatic but it can be hard to believe, it was for me too trust me. But this spoiler in itself changed the entire outlook of the novel altogether and everything pieced together after a second read. I find it upsetting that some readers here try to spoil everything altogether and even false ones instead of letting new readers judge the series on their own.

Basically Matthias has never been a red flag (he's
not toxic, never forced himself on her and always loved her) and never will be. Also he fell in love with the 18 year old Layla at first sight, not the 12 year old one. The real red flag has always been Layla (and even Kyle to some extent, yeah I know you can't believe it but he's a mommy's boy and he only cared about marrying Layla, never trying to understand whether she loved him or wanted to marry him too, basically he's being forceful and there's other reason too) and she started the mess by making it a bigger mess than it already is. Layla always wanted to be a perfect because that's how she believed she could keep living with Uncle Bill. Her mother abandoned her and her relatives kept making her go to one relative to another, she never really had a place to call home. She wanted to be useful to Uncle Bill so he wouldn't kick her out. Uncle Bill also kept pushing away the matter that he wanted her to live with him permanently, acting all tsundere and telling her she should live under better care (Layla thought he didn't want her there).
According to the analyses, Layla's obsession with being the perfect adult made her look at everyone else's as flawed. She fell in love with ML at first sight and yet she is harsh to her as we saw in the manhwa. He never did anything offensive, and as a noble, is there a reason why he should be extra caring for FL who is a commoner, who was also only a child when they first met. Despite that, the FL remains hateful of the ML, why? First, she knew a commoner, moreover an orphan like her has no chance with a Duke, so to keep her love from growing, she used every reason she found to dislike the ML, one being the fact that ML hunts birds as a hobby. But hunting was a favourote pasttime for most nobles back in the old days, and
Second of all, there's a huge status gap. Remember the coin scene? Layla felt embarrassed picking up a coin in front of ML, she said the ML gave a mocking smile at her, but according to the translations he never did so and because she never looked up to check his expression, she imagined it all in her head. And why ashamed? That's because she loved him and wanted to be his equal, any person would not like to be in the embarrassing moment in front of their crush, right? And when a person like her is abused and neglected to the point they don't have anything of their own, the only thing they could cling to is their pride, and pride became the reason Layla acts haughty in front of ML instead of taking it chill.
Then comes the fact that ML gets engaged to Claudine, and she saw that as a flaw to reject the ML every time he tries to get to know her. She could have been chill about it, Matthias should never matter to her if all she cared was being Uncle Bill's family. She saw Matthias's advances as being very unbecoming of him because she saw him being an engaged man as an insult to her dignity. She would rather die than be his mistress, and even if he wasn't engaged, she would rather be his Duchess than a mistress hidden away from everyone else, she wanted to walk along with him proudly. She never said these explicitly btw, but if you read between the lines, her thoughts become too obvious.
Layla always plays the victim card (like Rashta and the other villain mistresses you see in many historical manhwa) but I never suspected it because the entire plot went mostly in the point of view of Layla, who twisted everyone around her with flaws and viewed herself as an adult who would never do anything wrong or harmful. She gaslighted herself so much that way cuz it's the only method she had to feel better about herself. She saw Matthias as a villain he never was and provoked him so much despite his great efforts in trying to understand her. Matthias is very perceptive of Layla's likes (he knows she likes sandwiches, mystery novels, birds and stuff) and has also defended Layla on multiple occasions which Kyle could not do.
There's so many other spoilers I wanted to share with you and explain properly but it's getting too hectic here so it would be better for you to read the spoilers from the account I mentioned. They arranged the spoilers and analyses in an organised manner and they are also willing to explain you anything you don't understand.
Also please don't attack me. If you still think ML is a red flag and toxic, let me tell you I hate toxic people to the core and I would never defend ML this much if he was really toxic. Give the ML a chance to understand him and stay away from the spoilers anyone tells you here because they all read from those illegal translation sites who messed up with the original storyline so much it's unbelievable.
thank you so much for replying I will surely read the novel and wait for the manhwa updates now I don't have to feel guily for reading it idk why I even believed the half fake spoiler but i was kinda doubtful they might be wrong cause why such good artist will pick a super toxic ml story ;)
I hope everyone just wait and enjoy the manhwa and judge things by themselves :))
And I thought Adrian's occasional creepy moments of bloodthirst carried the manhwa, but Dr. Hubert's madness is of a whole other level (but I like him, an interesting support character).
Who said only demons are dangerous?? The humans here are not falling behind
So true. Even Satan over here probably thinking he’d make a great demon/minion since he thinks so lightly of murder. It’s not even let’s make sure to kill bad people or those that aren’t missed…it’s all purely for the young master’s health. He’s interesting like you said but even being a doctor or man of science, prescribing murder is odd, I would start think supernatural things were at play. Then again I guess our little devil would find that he’s no longer a useful pawn if he knew too much. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Let's just appreciate the author's storytelling and ignore anything that repulses you. You can have feelings, experience cathartic moments but the story is worth the struggle, as a novel reader. Too bad the free novel translations available in the internet are not misleading, don't read from those The! The ML's actions appear worse than they are BCUZ WE ARE LEARNING ABOUT HIM THROUGH THE FL'S POV! He's aloof but he definitely helps the FL his own way, it's just his love for her made him very desperate. He DOES NOT and NEVER took her for granted, it's Layla herself who made him look like a villain. She herself struggles from her love for him, but denies it in the worst way possiblem They were both wrong in how they acted but c'mon, we all know humans make imperfect life decisions.
Thanks a lot for writing this. I've seen some bad comments already about this story and infortunately my curiosity doesn't help... I didn't read much of the summary someone put here but having read these comments it's already too much spoilers. Even though, this won't stop me from reading this Josei, the art is stunning ans the story seems interesting and rather realistic in its treatment. I'm ready to endure all the emotions and angst that will be displayed througout the chapters.
That's true that the way the story is told, and the POV, is determinant for how the readers will feel about a story and with which characters they will sympathize. We're only at the beginning of the story and Layle has already a bad opinion of the young Duke, that tells us how sad and difficult their relationship will be.
To the people in the comments complaining about the ML, yes we know what he is like, still doesn't stop me from reading the story. The spoilers you read about are very misleading so if you don't know any better than a reader who only read the first ten chapters and rated the rest of the novel as trash then please leave.
Wdym by "Not everyone's cup of tea" ???? She was literally raped, blackmailed and stuff !! Like if it happened to someone in your family, would you be like " Oh well, we don't know the other party's side of the story" ??? Don't you have a brain ??? The guy is a toxic shit that needs to be put in an asylum. You're just a rape apologist at this point. Stop your bullshit, and go see a therapist because there is something very wrong with you.

When a life of loneliness is a worse fate than being abused by your own brother, I feel so sad for Sioanna. She and Etienne should have each other's backs but I hope their traumas don't ruin what they have at the moment...
