Jk's backstory is to show where he comes from, why he is the way he is. He may have been brought up, but there was no nurture, no love. His coach has grumpy old man vibes, all about the work, no love. When he got rich, it probably all was about using him for his money. Everything to him is all about his discipline, his drive to be at the top. He hated Dan working so hard to give him a gift. He may not have expressed it properly, but he probably thought why work so hard for someone else when he could use the money? He expects the people who work for him to excel and to support him, not bring him down. Jk's an asshole and I expect him to grovel, not be excused. Dan's current suffering is for Jk to face his nightmares so he can help Dan and in turn Dan can show him how to love. People don't analyze anymore and just all out hate
