As Ryeong already taken too much role for being an elder figure, now he just want an equal standing that comes from a friend. When they meet, Paljae's body is severely broken and only his finger intact. Ryeong cultivated that finger that become a children body. That is why Paljae didn't grow in the span of human children, he grow fast as his body recover to his previous form.
Paljae only lose his memory, its not like he's reborn and start again as a child. He's not an innocent child that can be brain washed and thoroughly innocent. He just forget everything, but his brain and instinct work like an adult does. So Ryeong need to teach him the way of living and how the world works. Besides that, their fate are mixed with time. Their encounter is not just in this timeline, but far long ago. They must have this karma from each other that they need to resolve.
