i didnt rlly read novel i just saw on reddit hahaha apparently once hero found out that he was getting ntred by his best friend (his potential lovers were all snatched away intentionally) he confronted mc bc he felt like a joke and he challenged (?) mc. mc became more and more jaded thru the story like by this point he was just sleeping? Around with hero potential lovers for the heck of it not rlly for his original intent of protecting hero. they fight and hero was killed. mc despaired and grieved. he eventually defeated the demon king solo, and instead of getting back to his own world, what he wished for was to turn back time? or get back to the time where ml was still alive/around the start of their journey together but this time instead of accompanying him he became mean to hero and they parted ways, so hero would journey and succeed alone/without mc fucking him up. ithink i saw mc hearing that hero was thriving on his own and he was happy for him? but also saw others saying the twist was without mc to protect hero, he really always got tricked/cheated on lol so it's ongoing with this part.
