I don't know what it is, but I kinda don't like this so far. MC seems more naive than when the story started (which is fine! I just wish they'd established that as a part of his character during the first chapter) And I get the mysterious love interest turned manipulate trope, but it seems really out of place here. For this trope to work, ML needs to stick to it for a while before changing over time to be more kind, otherwise it just looks like he just manipulated the MC for no reason. After he said he'd help him out for sex he's been nothing but kind afterwards so it doesn't really justify that part of his character and he doesn't bounce off of the MC. I hope this makes sense to someone

I really hated this in the start, the ML wait irritated me and it was taking ages for their relationship to pick up, but if you're in a similar position to me then I highly recommend just getting through it because it's absolutely worth it!
