I'm starting to think she has attachment issues that's why even if it's obvious the mom won't ever prioritize her she still can't let got of them. As mentioned at the start, she has no friends, no other relatives, all her life she has only her mom that was constant figure in her life even if she was never around.
Now she has Rai and his friends but technically she has known them for what? a couple of weeks/months? I find it hard for her to pick them over her mom.(unless something real bad happens... Foreshadowing of it is already present luckily) Altho the mom is never around and technically use her money etc, she always comes backs = making her believe she won't abbandoned her. Plus the mom does not abuse her or threat her bad (altho she does), they don't have a terrible relationship ship. Thus, I assume mc believes she can live the moms flaws since in exchange she does not feel completely alone. I hope mc stop forgiving or accepting the mom's....

Anyway contrary to many, I don't think she's dumb, she knows the mom does not prioritize her but she indures bc at the end of the day she cares for her mom... Honestly I think the guys needs to open nv eyes but with the new creep I also hope mc manages to change her mom... Ik it's hard to change people like her mom but Hey, this is manga. Miracles can happen.

I just started this and wow. A couple of nights ago I read a webtoon where there's 2 saint, one is fake and abusive who took credits of the real saint miracles and blessing. There the isekaid protag was the real saint in a quest to bring down the fake. I started this is and I swear I thought it was the same story but reverse. I was convinced this was the same story for some reason (yeah I didn't read the title haha) and kept thinking something is off.

I sometimes get confused, too. They look so similar in color, men/woman, and location.
Honest, woke up this morning and thought I was reading that, then I saw a boner and was like “oh, it is not” (imagine a surprise Pikachu face) hahaha

Man, prob one of my favorite character in this story... Of course he's not perfect but half of his bad parenting is caused by third parties imo.
He adopted Penelope to fill in the emptiness left by his missing daughter. I could be wrong but if I remember he picked Penelope bc her hair color was lighther before and well, he picked a kid from the streets. I feel like he could have been a good dad if his view of Penelope wasn't distorted by the servants and his kids. I mean it's very hard to believe a kid is not lying when EVERYONE called her problematic and a liar.

His distance from Penelope in later years is both caused by the servants/kids portraying her as bad and well Penelope acting reasonably like a problematic kid bc she's being targeted both inside the mansion and outside. Plus Penelope stopping calling him "father" after that stealing incident lower the chances of them developing a father and daughter relationship. bc the abuses are closed door, he didn't need to worry since he thinks she's being taken care of by the staff. Then again half reason of his disinterest to Penelope is because 1) he didn't see her as his daughter since Penelope put a wall between by not calling him father or reaching out to him because of distrust 2) I think when he adopted her he didn't expect it to be difficult to handle so he left her to the servants... And I assume he kept his distance bc he thinks Penelope doesn't see him as a father... Still despite her problematic actions real or not and distance towards him he never kicked her out.

He's not perfect and he did many mistake as a parent but idk he's not fully a bad guy in my eyes. Like he really cares for Penelope now. I think if he had know of the abuse he would care for her the same.

I guess he isn’t all bad but he adopted a child and never gave it attention. Just assuming shes gonna love you without taking care of her, talking to her, and going out with her is ridiculous behavior. Never tried to make any memories or spend any time with her. Just threw money at her and tried to keep her safe/alive. Idk if I can like him. His indifferent behavior is what caused this mess so idk. I feel like he would have protected her because they shouldn’t mess with the family. Not her specifically. I mean not fully the bad guy but just in the wrong as the child has no one on her side till the day she died.

Yup I agree but. you also have to take into account that he adopted Penelope mostly because he took pity of her since he was thinking of Yvonne might be in the same situation as Penelope, living in the street or in bad poor situation asking money etc, when he saw her 1st time (her hair was lighter when she was young that's why she reminded him of Yvonne). Kinda like "if I can't help/save Yvonne who is lost and can't be found, I'll save this child at least".He didn't have in mind to be her "father" back then but just a benefactor that helped a starving kid out. Yet because of the similarity he taught he should adopt her so he can also ease up his sons that are shaken by their lost sister. It obviously backfired but he couldn't really kick her out after he adopted her and gave her a """""""better life"""""""" anyway kinda like how people donate money to kids in hospital but never checking on them personally if they are cured etc. He didn't saw himself as a parent to Penelope before only until Penelope addressed him seriously as such. he didn't see her as "his child" but someone he saved out of whim almost. That and plus him being in the dark and being told Penelope is problematic by everyone made him think 1) nothing is wrong, Penelope is just throwing her usuals tantrum 2) the staff are doing their best as usual and its just Penelope being difficult 3) his kids couldn't be lying since everyone is backing their framing

Basically he adopted her not with the intention of seriously having her as his daughter but to save her from poverty. Reason why he didn't commit to parenting initially (ngl I think he just gave up bc in his eyes she was problematic). He didn't feel any strong connection to her so he didn't bother checking on her personally. That and him not aware of the abuses, gave him no reason to worry. Penelope was the one who kept asking for jewels and we can assume the duke used that to calm her. From his point of view she was troublesome who keep spending money, doesn't call him father.. not really awakening father instinc. His approach is lazy and as the person who did the adopting he did a terrible job. I can only say he is trying to make amends for his wrong doing. I'm not gonna spoil but he was great help and comfort to Penelope later on without asking anything in return.

I begging someone in this story punch him right in the guts and face.
Also I'm worried about the foxie's mom... What happened to her?

Suzzu January 30, 2024 2:40 pm

..when they share spoilers. Very often they write their thoughts about the story by over exaggerating the flaws or unintentionally putting in the story their input about it. Writing this because I've already seen people complaining and adding their own opinion and perspective to scenes changing said scenes context and putting words/opinion in characters months and head that didn't happen in this story for example.

I love how the artist ends chapters with a cliffhanger of a smut scene but I all I can think is: "is it gonna be flowers, fruits or animals censoring?

I don't get the censoring here... I'm cool with sexy smut scene happening off screen but with do they have to censor kisses on checks and forehead when in prevs chapter they weren't censored. Sometimes they censore it sometimes they don't. Also I'm currently chapter 122...

If he didn't ignore Sei he would have put her in similar situation to Aira. Stuck in a lower level, covered in promises and assureness that her bad reputation is ignorable because once she save the country everyone will feel horrible and be grateful to her. Extra protected Sei wouldn't have seen the dreadful situation of the kingdom and would have been in a situation where she was told to take her time and there's no worry while in the meantime soldiers are dyng in the front lines and there are several monsters in every region. Being out on a pedestal is a detrimental. As such he actually did a terrible job.

Also read the spinoff and watched the anime. Knowing that he was made aware 2 girls that were summoned the next day of the summoning but decided to ignore it despite multiple reports. Proves he feels entitled that his position and view is above facts. And this denial continues for several months until he was finally put in a situation where he could no longer deny it. He decision to take the blame and be indeed just bratty Prince is mainly to save Aira's rep. He continues to NOT acknowledge that Sei is the saint even after. As he stated he continues to believe he didn't make any mistake as of today and continue to support the idea and his position that Aira is the Saint. He does not believe he is in the wrong. And he believe based on the his feelings and sympathy for Aira. He decision to play the role and be bratty Prince is also based on his personal preference and support of Aira. Altho done with good intention to help Aira later.

His support and action is based on favoritism. And bruh, soldiers and fighting and being heavily injured in weekly/daily confrontation with monsters. He knows what's happening outside the castle but decided to prioritize his favoritism of Aira thus equally view 'his people sacrifice' ignorable and prioritize his bratty Prince facade and Aira's future (one person) over many people. Like bruh you aren't really thinking of the 'people~". It's awful but despite he did it for Aira he would make a terrible king as he prioritize his circle of friends and liked people than his kingdom. Saying he acted and was playing the role of bratty Prince right at the start is UTTERLY contradicting HE CHOSE AIRA OVER SEI for weeks even before Sei achievement which become known months later. Thus he had no reason to feel the need to put a facade since Aira's rep as saint was not endangered by Sei yet.

The guy is actually equally a terrible Prince too. From Aira's spinoff for months they would receive notice of Sei's achievement and the reports that they are 2 girls summoned but decided to utterly ignore it. In the anime only after Sei subjugation he finally start reading reports about her and he could no longer sustain that Aira is the saint. Both him and HIS AIDS are bad. The aids utterly fail to convince him of otherwise until it was too late. The Prince for ignoring opinions that are not his own.

    PorcelainMask June 9, 2024 7:43 pm

I think what makes it worse is that the Prince knew that coming to this world; she would know nothing about the mannerisms and culture and social customs of the country. Yet he continued to shelter her and not let her gain experience by being with other women. Even when Sei isekai-ed Elizabeth was the one to teach her not to but her feet out or show too much because of the customs. Especially since in Japan, Japanese people are accustomed to being less sensitive about their bodies (communal bathhouses for everyone). It is very important for other women to be around each other because we mostly learn by copying, but Aira only hung around guys. Which in this case, the men in those kind of worlds are very open while women are not. Especially when it comes to jokes and stuff, so she must have thought that it was normal to be that close with other people, however, she only hung around guys because the Prince made her follow her around like a dog. WHICH is another problem. When Elizabeth and Aira first meet in the hallway, where Elizabeth mentions to Aira that she could help her study, the Prince comes out of nowhere and interrupts them. What makes matters, the way the Prince unconsciously talks to Aira is like that of training a dog. When he said, “Aira, follow.” Like he was speaking to a dog. Istg I have never been so mad. He thought of her as a lost puppy, and with his social status, I’m 100% sure he thought of her like that.
