The rating seems a bit high. Hotaka is the only only real highlight. His warm, friendly, and comforting personality would definitely win me, an awkward introvert, over irl. Yui being fine with Kai kissing him repeatedly, as well as the eldest brother’s actions, is weird. Apart from Hotaka, I also like Sei (the kid) and he deserves better parents. I agree with the comment which said that Hayato/Kaito (the ML) doesn't really show much desperation. The art is pretty but there's a lack of regret, guilt, and yearning in his facial expressions or body language. I think the tragic backstory is good, but the way it was written and drawn could have been better to make it feel more impactful and emotional.
