Well obviously no one in this story is in their right mind. MC is suffering from probably yes like mentioned above Stockholm Syndrome, depression, anxiety, he is obviously paranoid and desperate. Obviously he just wants all this to stop so he not making sense. Honestly no one would think straight if they were in his position. The mind in this psychological state is a very complicated thing to understand people never make sense. They think differently and honestly I have dealt with someone in a similar state of mind they think crazy and think what they say makes sense and that there is no other way out. It made me want to help that person but I couldnt they needed treatment. That person is better today and they way they think now is extremely different from how they thought then. So the MC state of mind now is logical to me.
