What...Kai isn't the worse he lives with teacher, he's basically his tutor and sometimes they fuck. He doesn't have anywhere to go and has some serious issues. Mikey yes he's struggling with his sexuality bus he's annoying as fuck, he keeps insulting his best friend and furthermore he takes his insecurities out on others and randomly snaps at people and when Alex is minding his own business he gets involved, Mikey wanted to kiss him and then he literally said he is a fag. Also I'm pretty sure that the teacher cheated on Kai a lot of times and when they fight he literally manipulates him to think he's the problem because he had a "though life", Kai is just trying to live in peace he just wants to be happy.
