Wow! I did not expect this. Finally, a truly intelligent female main character! She actually tries to lay low and avoids attention to protect herself. She completely understands the dangers of the world, the unfairness of life, is very much in touch with reality and readily accepts it. She knows her place and acts accordingly. She could have much more authority, but doesn't seek it because she knows the implications. And guess what!? She doesn't blush like some brainless idiot when this incredibly handsome high ranked official obviously favors her but instead is cautious of him!!! What a ground breaking idea in a manga! She also doesn't even shy away when the topic of sex is brought up! I freaking love her! She's also super quirky and not completely right in the head with her poison and medicine-making obsession, but that's also part of her charm. A little flaw (which is nothing, really) would be that she's quick to assume and not good at expressing her intentions which can create misunderstandings. But that quick tendency to assume the worst (she's kind of pessimistic) I think is a survival instinct, because when she assumes the worst, she can prepare for it and move past things quickly even when she can't avoid a bad result. The reason she's bad at expressing herself is because she tends to keep to herself which is not a bad thing since she doesn't blab unnecessarily (although I guess more eloquent people would be able to talk without divulging anything unnecessary). So yeah, I love every single thing about this
I'll probably get a lot of hate for this, but I don't like the MC. Like... some guy is threatening you with a sword, stop shouting insults at him and do what he asks! You don't know what he's capable of, do you wanna die? Or at least defend yourself by telling him that if he kills you then his life is going to stay that way because you won't be able to fix it if you're dead. And the complaining about having to stay on a tree with him... didn't you just see those monsters below? Do you wanna die? Ugh... so whiny and noisy... just shut up!
So... I just started reading this and was thinking the MC is so interesting, I love it! But I was also going to complain about Charlotte but saw the other comments and realized I wasn't the only one who thinks she's useless lol. I mean, I don't necessarily hate her, because she actually sincerely wants to support the MC, but that's it. She's completely useless
