This is so weird because I can relate to this lol. Being with someone who's afraid of being hurt is really confusing especially if they actually do like you, because they act like they like you but then they push you away. I'm not as innocent as DG so I'm fine, but damn, poor DG. I'm actually really glad he put his foot down and was firm to make decisions that are best for himself
Well that's some bullshit right there! I'm so pissed the coach said "just for the summer we'll swap their numbers just so they can grow a little bit" as if it was just a borrowed number and Sawamura wasn't really the ace. When he gave Furuya the number, he wasn't anywhere near ready either, plus it was JUST BECAUSE SAWAMURA HAD YIPS! and he didn't say anything like "it's only temporary". HELL! Sawamura had to save Furuya's ass WITH YIPS! but nobody ever said anything except "Furuya's the ace". I'm so pissed but I guess I'm the only one.
Another thing is that I had come to like the assistant coach lately, but that was some load of bullshit coming out of his mouth again. Give Furuya the ace number because Sawamura grows in adversity? What if you break him??? Like no matter what he does he'll never be good enough because he's obviously been carrying the whole team with his insanely good performance lately but NO, he doesn't get to be the ace even after that!
I know I wanted the team to be a double ace team from the beginning and this is kind of it, since nobody gets to be the "real ace" because they'll always be equally good that it'd be impossible to choose just one, but this is so unfair!

lol I read this so long ago I didn't remember what this was about so I had to go back to check the ending. No, the epilogue is something that happened in the past, when Haruto was still in college.

The ending is pretty clear. Ren's adoptive dad took him away after finding out that the guy he asked to keep an eye on Ren was actually abusing Ren.
Ren decided to leave because he didn't want to be a burden to Haruto. He couldn't possibly ask Haruto to take him in and support him financially, since Ren was still in high school and Haruto wasn't rich. I think Haruto might've even been struggling a bit financially actually, can't remember that well. After leaving, the contact between them was completely cut.
Then after years (don't remember how many and too lazy to check) Ren finally came back. THE END.
LIKE WHAT? AT LEAST SHOW THEIR REUNION GOD DAMN IT!
