I feel that while most of yaoi works, both dark and fluffy ones, are mindless self-indulgence (wich is not bad, it's just that they are not really deep and especially if you are older and/or not straight you know that the plots are just not very realistic, if at all, and so cannot be appreciated beyond fiction) this manga has it all: realistic, aligned with the gay experience in Japan, angst in a mature way, a healthy relationship both in the emotional and sexual sense (that in most yaoi are, without the lenses of fiction, abusive) and does all of that without being either heavy or depressing. Overall, a great read!
