I JUST WANTED CUTE JOOHAE SCENES
why yeongha. why???? can you please give me cute domestic joohae, we are so starved T___T
if you've read the fucking raws he neglected joowon greatly after his mom died. so no he's an asshole fuck him (︶︿︶)=凸
also they were near adults that just met, have no biological relation and never viewed each other as step bros or develop any sibling bond. that enough context for me and majority of readers understand their relationship so im sorry your ship sunk (im really not lol)
If we don’t have some flashback About those 3 years, I’m going to be very very very disappointed, honestly I have always defended the author about everything, but the last chapter was so unsatisfying for JOOHAE shipper like ... we’ve waiting so long for them to have some cute moments and we just have a time skip ? We need to know what’s happening for them, i feel like the author want to finish fast the problem with their parents and Leo... honestly thats not bothering me more than that, but for joowon and heasoo i hate this time skip
When the story his still « ongoing » what’s is the point to have a time skip ?
When Joohae shipper have always waiting for them to have a true discussion,
I want to know how they start again their relationship...
I have so many questions and I’m afraid if I don’t have all the answers,
I need some a lot of Joohae moment and I’m sure I’m not going to be satisfied...
Yeah I feel this a lot!!
I've agreed with *most* of the author's decisions this far, but I dont like the timeskip AT ALL. like we should finally get more joohae after like 40 chapters being deprived, but instead we're skipping all the development straight to 3 years later T__T and i wanted to see them talk, like FULLY REALLY TALK. but ah well.
i feel like she wants to rush to finish it now? idk
I feel that too ! I hate this time skip I don’t understand, The beginning of the new Joohae relationship is so interesting, and if we are nothing about that... im going to be so disappointed
Her works his incredible... so that’s sad to rush at the end so I hope we going to have some flashback... I’m waiting for the next chapter...
Looking back on all the chapters, I’m just glad we might finally get to see Joowon yknow... NOT SUFFERING.
This dude almost got suspended in highschool (in order to protect Haesoo). Yelled at by his dad. Slapped by Haesoo’s mother. Thought he was abandoned by Haesoo (this was the mom’s fault tho). Punched by Haesoo. Told by Haesoo to his face that he doesnt love him. Publicly scrutinized and acting gig dropped due to stupid Leo. Almost killed in a car accident by again: stupid fcking Leo.
Love or Hate? More like Love to hurt Joowon amiright ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
yeah exactly. in my opinion, joowon is honestly the bigger victim here
ppl just twist everything up because for the first half of the story, we only see things through Haesoo's eyes.
(ppl also act like he's some sort of predator cause of the car scene between him and haesoo... which is a scene that is seriously misinterpreted and twisted by readers but i wont get into that lol)
I really can't believe people are actually surprised by this and thought he would end up with Taku. Like it was so GLARINGLY OBVIOUS over the course of like 40 chapters that Haesoo never let go of Joowon. At every moment with Taku, he'd think back to Joowon. Yes Haesoo was gentle and sweet to Taku, because he had become fond of him and his work. But nothing more than that. Haesoo honestly just looked so sad and gloomy in so many moments because he'd think of Joowon and miss him. (The only thing that could fool me with this story would be the main cover art LOL)
And honestly this is how end pairings SHOULD be. They shouldn't be unpredictable because it shows lack of consistency in writing and direction from the author. Who ends up with who should make sense logically and reflects how the characters act. When Haesoo constantly expresses all these emotions indicating that he still loves Joowon, it would make zero sense for him to suddenly change his mind and be like "yep i like taku now!" lol like no...
I'm glad the author wasnt swayed by opinions and remained consistent in her writing despite all the aggressive and annoying ass fans on twitter and other platforms. She knew what story she was telling from the very beginning.
i dont think a lot of ppl preferred joowon over taku.
joowon is actually the most popular character in Loh judging by the sales of his merch. it's just that taku/taehae stans are way more annoying, and LOOOVE to virtue signal by claiming theyre somehow better people and joowon stans are iNcESt sUpPorTerS and Joowon is aBusIVe
Joowon just really REALLY loves Haesoo. He's so selfless for Haesoo like damn
As kids, he refused to let Haesoo get involved in that fight, simply accepting the fact that he might get disciplinary consequences and his future acting career would go down the drain. Then when Joowon's past fight got brought up by the media, he refused to let Haesoo be pushed into the middle of the mess. Instead he took the blow to his reputation just to protect Haesoo.
Also, when Haesoo said he wanted to stop things between them and said other hurtful things to him about liking Taku and not him, he was very upset/angry yes... but after all the emotions settled down, he pushed aside his own feelings (ofc he never stopped loving him) and gave Haesoo a phone call, telling him that he'll always be on his side even if it's just as a brother or friend >< He even got Haesoo flowers to support his exhibition despite the fact that he was initially so jealous and against Taku's exhibition. (Ofc Joowon also thought Haesoo genuinely liked Taku, but that Taku was only using Haesoo like he'd done with his other models so theres that too for why he was so pissed about the exhibition... so it wasn't ONLY petty jealousy here but anyways anyways~).
And then in this chapter, when Joowon woke up at the hospital and Haesoo was there, he was like "really horrible car accident, hahah who careeees? im fine see? i'm totally fine so don't cry". Like all he was concerned about was the fact that Haesoo was crying and he wanted to comfort him ;A;
tldr; Joowon always tries to protect Haesoo in any way he can, with little regard for himself, and that makes my heart hurt,, but in a good way (ಥ_ಥ)
No matter which way I look at this manhwa, Seth is always easily the best boy. He's the only one fully genuine, honest and reliable in it. The only mistake he made was trying to love someone who loved someone else. But no, I really wonder what the author was thinking here... like if they read their own story start to finish, i feel like they'd like Seth more just as the huge majority of the audience seems to LOL
Seth is also literally nothing like Sam, despite Henry saying 'he reminds me of sam'. like yeah, maybe theyre similar on extremely superficial levels such as playing baseball, and looks wise. But as people theyre TOTALLY different, and good thing for that. Like Seth would NEVER stay in a pitiful marriage for years and years just cause he was so blatantly apathetic and useless to his wife, to the point that he didn't even THINK to file for divorce, yikes
Okay so this is gonna be long.
I just want to talk about Taku in the latest raws, cause I think it was a defining moment for him. Basically, Taku was quite selfish in this chapter. He got angry at his friend because she told Haesoo about Joowon’s accident. Like even if Taku hates Joowon, his reaction to his friend is OBVIOUSLY in the wrong. He knows how much Joowon means to Haesoo, and wanting to hide something like that accident from Haesoo would be terrible.
Yeongha is quite realistic in her depictions of people, and I think Taku acting like that kind of proves how Haesoo really wasn’t the one for him. Joowon was selfish too... earlier in the story. But he overcame that aspect of himself, and apologized. He was accepting and completely ready to stand down for Haesoo’s sake. Despite not getting what he wanted, he said he would always stay by Haesoo’s side in whatever way Haesoo would have him. Hypothetically speaking: if Joowon and Taku switched roles in this situation, Jowoon's current self would NOT react the same way about the accident. He would want to tell Haesoo immediately because he knows that Haesoo cares about Taku, and the fact that he wants Haesoo to be happy trumps how much he wants Haesoo for himself. Basically his love had changed from selfish to selfless over time. Taku meanwhile, is like a young Haesoo/Joowon right now. He’s so impatient with his advances onto Haesoo after only like a month or two of dating him, that it just doesnt make sense for Haesoo to end up with him.
Taku still has a lot of growing up to do and yeah he didn’t “win”, yes he didn’t end up happy in the time being... but if you ask me, he learned some of the most valuable lessons as a person because of his relationship with Haesoo. Haesoo was the first person who he actually *loved* and cared about. Him losing composure and getting angry like this in the chapter makes so much sense, because he really doesnt know how to deal with all his new emotions, and he can’t fully grasp a sense of sacrifice, or patience, or selflessness in his love. It’s a realistic portrayal. And it’s when people lose what they want (cough joowon cough), thats when they show the most growth. Him ultimately losing Haesoo should make him realize his faults and missteps with HIMSELF— and that he’ll be better for whoever he loves in the future.
I like this manhwa because i find that in most romance stories, the second lead is this flawless and perfect person, and it literally makes zero sense for the mc to end up with the crappier first lead. But in Love and Hate, ALL of the characters are flawed. Their growth is what actually matters, and it makes sense for Haesoo to be with Joowon in the end. Because A) they genuinely LOVE each other -and- B) as much as they loved each other, their relationship in the past was just... not it. Its the fact that Taku broke the cycle of their messed up relationship, and literally forced Joowon and Haesoo to change without even realizing it himself, that made them good for each other in the end. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
agree 100%. i’ve been arguing since forever
that taku is underdeveloped and the ONE way for him to grow would be to experience loss. you can’t become a truly empathetic person without ever having felt loss. taku is hurting now but he’ll return to Japan having learned a lot and I think that’s far more important than a superficial one month relationship.
i can only hope the bitter taku stans will realize that and maybe appreciate what this story has been since day one
Preach, sister! You said many true things. I love Love or Hate (or am I obsessed with it?), it's such a complex, deep story. At first you might think it's just a cliché plot with your habitual love triangle. But it's way more than that.
Like you, I was so afraid of Taku being a flat character, too perfect compared to Haesoo and Joowon. For a while, I couldn't like him. But he is way more than a plot device, he is too a true and realistic character, and I learned to like him.
I'm a little bit disappointed with the cliché car accident that helps the MC realize/accept his true feelings, but well. We waited long enough for this moment.
I hope the end is still far. I need to see Joowon and Haesoo loving each other openly, and I hope Taku will move on and be happy - maybe even find love with someone else.
yes yes exactly! i've been saying the exact same thing too about how he's underdeveloped and it makes no sense for him to be the endgame. this story is about the way people are flawed and change, so how can taku be the end choice if he's been such a stagnant character and never suffers and changes the way haesoo and joowon has??
yeah i agree, the car accident was a bit cliche but at least it did its job lol
i hope there will at least be a side story for Taku at the end. In most romance stories, the second lead comes out of it with nothing at the end. It's as though they just continue life like normal. but it would be so refreshing to show how Taku's relationship with Haesoo, DID have an impact on him as a person and it helps him change. that's what Taku's character should be about.
Beautiful post. I agree wholeheartedly.
Yes one of the reasons I've enjoyed the story is because all characters were complicated and morally gray at times. In many love triangles situation is pretty white and black and here everyone has their own flaws.
Author also focused on three of them, we could observe how they were changing during the story.

I think rereading Loh has made me overly attached to Joowon lmaoo
He's really one of my favourite semes in bl now. He has his flaws but is still hella loyal and bighearted. He is the biggest Haesoo simp ever, even when Haesoo didnt deserve it and hurt him a lot like ??? Joowon literally went through the most shit in this manhwa just for Haesoo's sake (like he really let Haesoo's mom slap him to take the heat off of HS, the bullying incident both in highschool and present, etc). When Haesoo said all those hurtful things about not loving him enough and calling their relationship wrong, he continued to love him and supported his exhibition despite the initial jealousy, and spent all his time just regretting all his past decisions. He thought the only way to keep them together was leaving their relationship undefined (hence the, "dont fall for me haesoo"), and then the mom dragged HS away leaving Joowon thinking he'd been abandoned by the one person who'd been by his side... I really can't blame his decisions or thought process there and this was basically what resulted in their unhealthy jealousy filled push/pull relationship in the first place. Then Haesoo leaves him a second time (for Taku this time) and he still called Haesoo to tell him "i'm all yours", and that he'll always be there for him even if its as a brother/friend T___T
honestly despite his few selfish and arrogant moments at the start, he really matures and actually prioritizes haesoo over himself even when I think he shouldn't. But well.... at least haesoo admitted he was wrong too, and they finally let go of their fears/insecurities and told each other they loved each other.
So true! He’s literally the only character I’ve liked in this story; charismatic and loyal with a vulnerable side ( not to mention sexiest and most handsome).
Spoiler
I’m feeling better about what’s suggested in the raws, with the idea that he’s playing in a drama based on Haesoo’s new fresh love story about their relationship. Hence the 3-year time skip, like they’ve been spending time together, Joowon is there supporting him (acting hiatus) while he’s writing it, working on the relationship that they couldn’t do before. Oh, and the cigs theory that he doesn’t need them because he has the real Joowon.
I went back to the first chapter where the 3 of them were being interviewed, and Haesoo is so guarded and cynical, but he’s still 25, so it was the past, not present or future. That interview represents the “before” view of their story, and we’ve yet to see the “now” or the 3 years later.
wow.. this comment was kind of a slap in the face. id been so busy believing he was merely toying with hs (in spite of the love he holds for him) to ever be able to see joowon in this light.. but now i can kinda see it, the whole picture, & i just really wanna cry ╥﹏╥
Haesoo is my fav character, but honestly I admit he hurt Joowon the most.
Like Joowon literally did not deserve all the pain he went through in this story :((( All the characters in Loh are flawed, but honestly Joowon is the mvp, definitely best boy.
Regardless, I love my bby haesoo, flaws and all lol
I'm glad I could make you see things in a somewhat different way!
I feel like some readers feel this way because the story is from Haesoo's perspective and we barely see Joowon's side till like after their "break up". Everything before the break up, Haesoo somewhat antagonizes Joowon, and doesnt even think Joowon really loves him... so readers end up seeing things that way too.
At the start, I couldnt fully tell if Joowon actually loved Haesoo or just wanted to control him or something selfish and messed up like that... but I realized how off I was as we ventured into the second half of season 2, and all of season 3.
I honestly dont dislike any of the main 3 characters in Loh. I appreciate them regardless of their flaws. However out of them Joowon is definitely my favourite, and I think he has the most redeeming qualities (plus the biggest growth).
Oh I never even thought about the interviews! It would be really cool if the last chapter of Loh was interviews of the 3 main characters, just like how the first was :O
