The 1st few chapters because I was confused who was empress in the previous life and of course came across what a dirtbag ruve was and I just don’t get how he became such a piece of shit in the previous life but he’s some kind of great ML in this life. What made him in to the kind of shit in his previous life that he could callously slap his queen across the face, make her lick his shoes, humiliate her, kill her father after promising not to, kill his own child without remorse? Like.. it’s just too different... maybe the story’s still unfolding and will explain further later but it just doesn’t add up at the moment.
I hope they show his POV in his previous life so I can empathize with him. Because its really hard to get over that since the author doesn’t show what built up to that point And tia’s perspective is not enough. Clearly she was unaware of many things.
I feel like this was mentioned before. Back in their previous life, Tia was groomed to become the empress. She was nearly, if not actually, 100% perfect all the time. No matter how much Ruve studied and excelled, everyone saw that Tia was doing better. He was bitter about that. He was also hurt that the Emperor was affectionate to Tia and not him. So 1. always being compared 2. always being compared to someone he's supposed MARRY one day 3. lacking in affection/validation (from the person he wanted aka the emperor). I can see how he got twisted. There wasn't proper guidance for him after the emperor died during the first time around. :(
I hope there’s more to it because if that was all it still doesn’t justify his actions. Because what he did was cruel. He raised a hand towards a women and practically raped Tia when jieun denied him.
