I understand that some people are put off and saying it's abusive, and while this particular situation is definitely abusive, this kind of play typically isn't.

This particular situation is abusive because Heewon [ML] doesn't want to hurt Wookyung [MC], but Wookyung is manipulating the situation to get his way.

Ultimately, this is entirely because they didn't communicate their wants, needs, and limits. I think if they're going to move forward, they need to draft up a contract saying what they're each expecting from their relationship. They also need to come up with a nonverbal system since Wookyung has too much pride to use the verbal one.

I personally love the traffic light system where the dom and the sub check in on their partners well-being using green light, yellow light, and red light. Green light is like, "I'm completely enjoying this, please keep going," and I think Wookyung should flip off Heewon if he's good.
Yellow Light is like saying, "I'm still okay, but let's slow down; stop this particular thing; or I need a change of position because my leg is falling asleep and I don't like it." Not stop the play entirely, but I need a change, basically. Wookyung could hold up an "ok" sign extending his fingers and touching the tips of his pointer finger and thumb together.
If he can't do that simple sign, that's the sign that their play needs to stop. Red Light. If you're so far gone that you can't communicate verbally OR nonverbally, then the play needs to end. Of they could snap their fingers for yellow. Or they could be asked to touch their toes together. Ultimately, the dom could ask the sub (or vice versa) to do a simple movement to check in with the other, and if they can't do that, then something needs to change.

But also, the dom needs to use this system too. He's just as much allowed to stop the play if he's uncomfortable, and doesn't want to do it.
Wookyung dismissed Heewon's feelings and then goaded Heewon into doing what he wanted by threatening to end the relationship. Heewon has become attached to Wookyung, so he really doesn't want that. That part was abusive. They're both in the wrong here, and need to truly communicate before going forward.
