What i meant by a side story is a whole new story about Dohyeok (which is technically the side story of the main story. And in BL manga world, there are side couples getting their own stories later on. Ex: Kiraide Isasete Asanaga sensei to Yanagi sensei) in the future !
I reacted that way because it was an unexpected ending for me that’s it.
Like someone said in the comments “what’s the point of this side story if that’s how it’s going end ?” Because now we have a lot of questions about the future of Siwoo and Dohyeok.
But at the same time, this ending could be the author’s choice to mirror the real life, where we don’t always get the answers to our questions and we have to keep going.

Wait is it Aeroc’s 2nd life or Kloff’s ?
I know that there’s 3 versions of the story. The first sad ending, then one with the original Aeroc (who remembers everything and try to change his fate etc) from his Pov (if im not wrong) and then another one with the original Kloff (from his pov, his memories of past life etc).
Here I’m not sure if it’s Aeroc’s or Kloff’s second life because even if it’s from Kloff’s pov, Aeroc seems to remember everything…
Yes, Aeroc did remember everything from the 1st life and he tried to prevent the same fate. Meanwhile Kloff just get a nightmares out of his previous life but still attracted to Aeroc. He tried to distant himself from Aeroc because both are Alpha (but Aeroc became Omega after meeting him the fact he doesn't know until later). Well...
