So potential spoiler (not verified) If I remember correctly when I was reading the novel, Duke Ergi, the guy that was Rashtas “friend” might have messed with the paternity test. At this point in the story it was left unknown, so she might or might not have been the emperors daughter. Which leads to more of the emperors downfall cuz he lives with that regret of not knowing. Duke Ergi might have been lying just to torture the emperor more. This was like 2-3 years ago when I was reading a horrible translation of the novel with Google translate. Plus Rashta had an early birth, so the timing was off too. So I don’t think it was ever explained just left a mystery
