Did you miss the part where the secretary told them that the ad hadn’t started shooting yet, so they should be quiet?
Or the part where the secretary mentioned to the ML that he had changed agencies at the last minute?
And when the secretary realized they were "friends" and was like "Oh, so that’s why he gave you this contract"?
Also, since the MC is bad at romance and the ad is romantic, how is he planning to improve it? His colleague could help with that, but he’s very inexperienced and is just taking pictures. Even the seme acknowledged that the kid wasn’t doing anything.
In these last five chapters, they’ve made all the wrong decisions.
But sure the MC is nice so that means he is good at his job...

Honey, the protagonist is so bad at romance that his boss decided to give the project to another team, despite him doing all the legwork to secure the contract. The author is telling us that he is a hardworking man but that he sucks at some things.
Pointing this out is not cherry-picking his worst features but stating a fact. He shouldn’t be working on this project. He isn’t suddenly bad at his job, but this isn’t the right project for him.
The MC even admitted to receiving criticism because he was using a network to get ahead. So no, not everyone likes him.
Also, my original comment was about both of them. If you want to defend the MC, that’s up to you, but neither of them is doing well on this project, and not everybody likes them.
