The art did Change, but it's more likely the same artist, and they improved. The face is not as stiff and flat as the first season, the emotions are portrayed better too.

If it's so, Etienne becoming emperor rather than empress would give her the possibility to wield the power of an emperor through her son, since the latter is supposedly subjected to her.
