Imagine reading a perfectly good action, adventure and fantasy novel with op mc and getting invested in it but it suddenly got ruined because there's too much love interests that it doesn't make sense anymore brooo I know mc is attractive and all but do you have to make every living female (except his sister) simp for him??? Yeah, there are some who don't think harem ruins the plot but there are also some who believes that harem totally ruins the whole plot. It's a matter of preference.
I mean... it's not even he having 2 or 3 romantic interests... it's how he is literally surrounded by females and how it's made ambiguous if they are just friends that admire him or if they want something more of him... I can't even call them harem members because 98% of the time they don't show this kind of interest in him.
Honestly tho... mc has no one close to him that's same gender. Even the dark elf turned to be a female crossdressing... It doesn't look very nice when someone surrounds themselves with the opposite gender and have not even one same gender friend... feels like those pick-me girls... same goes for female mc's that only have possible mls around her and no friends... at some point it just weirds you out... like why are even the swords female? Was that really necessary?

I do agree with it. The story is really good... and honestly that makes me even madder... because that is proof that some of those characters didn't need to be female at all for the plot to work. Jack, that fox Duchess, the half-elf kid that was almost sacrificed... even his swords could've been a lil boy and a lil girl instead of 2 girls. There's no point plotwise for them all to be women. It's not like he is allergic or have phobia of men due to trauma or anything... so the only reason I see for it is... fanservice (even if not the sexy kind) and that's what makes me uncomfortable.

As you said, the plot is good despite that and that's why I'm still reading. At this point as long as he doesn't get a "pet girl" and ends with 1 or 2 girls at most... I'll read it till the end.

That's because we usually think of fanservice as those oversexualized clothes and poses... deep cleavages, those jp hs miniskirts flipping, panties showing, those clothes tighter than spandex that looks more like body paint than actual clothes... and obviously those "lucky perv" situations.
This kind is more like a ego-boost fanservice than a get-horny one... like... think going to a bar and having all hot single person from the opposite gender paying attention and being flirty. Not hitting on or catcalling but like... looking over, locking gazes, smiling, looking somewhere else and looking back after a few seconds; talking sensually even when just greeting; or bumping and getting touched slightly while receiving an apology and things like that. Even if nothing happens, to feel desired like that is a tremendous ego-boost right?
Those fenale characters don't hit on or flirt openly with mc. They do make clear they admire, like and respect him, and author makes sure to draw that as ambiguously possible. Even when they are gathering courage to ask him for help with something they get drawn like a girl being shy and gathering courage to confess instead... that gives readers the doubt if they are interested in mc romantically or not and the expectation if they will end up with him or just be friends. But as there's too many women around mc you start to think so with all of them... if this was with 2-3 girls it would be ok... but they do it with all of them and then... then instead of thinking mc is desirable I just feel... like the women are annoying instead... and their interactions feel less interesting because 20% of the scene matters to the plot and the rest is just them drolling over mc... like they are more interrupting the story than being part of it...
The plot is good, the characters, even the female ones, are good and likeable individually but at this point I see myself wishing he just goes on an adventure "alone"... Even Pers and Lune are feeling annoying... u.u"

So real!!! The plot is good but we don’t need girls and women all over him even if they’re not interested in him. The story could go on even without the females. It feels so uncomfortable seeing so many girls and women around him like bro ADD MORE MALES TOO I want a guy who understands Davey and works with him. Like the super power duo besties type stuff lol. Every time I look I see him surrounded by girls somehow☠ and the male are just extras or little to no involvement. My conclusion about harems is:
Jp: all these girls want me and I'll do them.
Kr: all these girls and women want me but I have something more important to do.
Ch: all these women want me but they are all biches so even if I do them I won't love them, only the most beautiful, special and pure woman deserves my true love.
From the 3 the Kr is the less worse but it still gets hella annoying. And I'm not gonna lie. The same applies to romance...
Jp: love triangle or with N guys and mc can't decide till the end who she loves more, very otome game like.
Kr: many man fall for mc and do everything they can to help her but mc "doesn't notice" and ends up with the guy we all knew was the ml.
Ch: a couple guys fall for mc but end up as just admirers because they can never compete with how handsome, rich and powerful the ml is.
And from those I like the Ch best because even if is soap opera, full of cliches and very dog blood... they are usually very 1v1 and I like monogamy...
Of course there exceptions in all cases... but all in all it is usually uncomfortable when someone is surrounded by people of the opposite gender and have no close friends of the same gender (maids and servants don't count)...
